GLASGOW — A Glasgow man and two Columbia residents were arrested Thursday after being found with more than five pounds of marijuana in the trunk of the vehicle.
Justin K. Dicken, 21, 2707 Old Munfordville Road, the driver of the vehicle, was charged with trafficking in marijuana over five pounds, according to a Glasgow Police Department report.
Aqua Bridgewater, 19, and Nivarian Shively, 42, both of Columbia, who were passengers in the vehicle, were also charged with trafficking in marijuana over five pounds and possession of marijuana, according to the Barren County Drug Task Force.
Dicken was traveling west on West Main Street when Glasgow police officer Eric Guffey noticed the driver resembled Dicken who was wanted on an indictment warrant. The vehicle was stopped in the Sonic parking lot on Rogers Road.
Two passengers got out of the vehicle and a small amount of marijuana was allegedly found. There was a strong smell of marijuana coming from behind the back seat in the trunk.
When the trunk was opened a black duffel bag wrapped in trash bags was found, according to the report. The more than five pounds of marijuana was inside the bag. There was also $600 in cash found in the vehicle.
Chief Horace Johnson said he was going to make sure to shake Guffey’s hand before he left the station for his work on the arrest.
Jeff Scruggs, director of the drug task force said the previous warrant against Dicken was also for drug trafficking.
The brick of marijuana measured 12 by 10 by 5.5 inches.
The bond on the previous charge was set at $3,500 and the new charge has a $5,000 bond. Dicken is being held at the Barren County Correction Center for contempt of court. Bridgewater and Shively each remain in custody on $10,000 bonds.
Trafficking in marijuana over five pounds is a class C felony and, if convicted, it carries a prison term of five to 10 years.
