GLASGOW — A Glasgow woman was arrested Tuesday afternoon following a two-vehicle collision.
Kimberly D. Fiveash, 40, 302 East Front Street, was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, aggravated circumstance, first offense at around 2 p.m. Tuesday by the Glasgow Police Department. This is the third arrest made of an impaired driver who involved in wrecks since Monday.
Fiveash pulled her 2000 Ford Ranger into the path of a 2003 General Motors Sierra pickup driven by Robert P. Barrett, 59, 5889 Happy Valley Rd., Cave City, while she was trying to make left turn from the northbound lane of L. Rogers Wells Boulevard onto Lexington Drive, according to a GPD report.
Barrett was traveling south on L. Rogers Wells Boulevard pulling a gooseneck trailer when the head-on collision occurred in the intersection.
Fiveash allegedly first told officers she thought Barrett was in the turning lane on the other side of the intersection, so she started to make the left turn, according to the report. Later she allegedly told officers she had a green arrow at the stop light and that she had the right-of-way.
Barrett said he was not in the turning lane, that he had the green light and was in the middle of the intersection when Fiveash made the turn and hit him, according to the report.
Barrett sustained injuries and was transported by Barren-Metcalfe Emergency Medical Service to T.J. Samson Community Hospital where he was treated and released. A passenger in Fiveash’s vehicle, Micha Wilson, 41, 126 Stewart Drive was not hurt.
The two vehicles received moderate to severe damage to their front ends and both came to rest off the right side of the roadway facing south. Barrett’s trailer was also damaged in the wreck.
Fiveash was taken to the Barren County Detention Center.
Officers Mike Houchens and Brad Lewis investigated at the scene.
