Man injured in 3-vehicle wreck in parking lot
A Glasgow man suffered minor injuries in a three-vehicle crash at the Happy Valley Shopping Center around noon Thursday.
Janice Steenbergen, 51, of Glasgow was driving through the parking lot when she collided with a vehicle backing out of a parking spot driven by Paul Pike, 58, of Glasgow. The force of the collision pushed Pike’s vehicle into a parked car occupied by three people.
A report from the Glasgow Police Department listed inattention by Pike as a cause of a the accident, and witness reports stated that Steenbergen was traveling at a hight rate of speed through the parking lot.
Anthony Spencer, 34, of Glasgow, an occupant of the third vehicle, was taken to T.J. Samson Community Hospital by a private vehicle after complaining of back pain, according to the report. No other people were injured.
Fire department responds to three vehicle fires
Three vehicle fires were also reported Thursday. The first was at 5:09 a.m. in the 100 block of N. Broadway St., the second was at 7:48 a.m. on Trojan Trail and the last was on I-65 and the Louis B. Nunn Parkway at 11:58 a.m., according to a release from the Barren County 911 Center. There was nothing unusual about any of the vehicle fires, said Tony Atwood, battalion chief for the Glasgow Fire Department.
Hart sheriff’s office arrests 5 for drug charges
The Hart County Sheriff’s Department has arrested five more people for drug charges, bringing the count to nine people arrested for drugs since Monday in the county.
On Tuesday, Sheriff Boston Hensley and Deputy Jeff Wilson executed a search warrant on a residence at 649 G. Wilson Road in Munfordville, where officers seized a large quantity of cocaine and marijuana. Weapons and drug paraphernalia were also seized from the residence.
Judy Smith, 54, 984 Pine Ridge Road in Bonnieville, was arrested for possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance — cocaine, and released from the Hart County Jail on a $9,500 bond.
Jessica Smith, 18, 1974 L.N. Turnpike Road in Munfordville, was arrested for possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance — cocaine, and lodged in the Hart County Jail with a $9,500 bond.
Clayton B. Smith, 21, 984 Pine Ridge Road in Bonnieville, was arrested for possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance — cocaine, and lodged in the Hart County Jail with a $9,500 bond.
Dewayne N. Sears, 27, 649 G. Wilson Road in Munfordville, was arrested for trafficking in marijuana over eight ounces, firearm enhanced and trafficking in a controlled substance — cocaine, and firearm enhanced and lodged in the Hart County Jail with a $19,000 bond.
Katassa Smith, 30, 649 G. Wilson Road in Munfordville, was arrested for trafficking in marijuana over eight ounces, firearm enhanced and trafficking in a controlled substance — cocaine, and firearm enhanced and was released from the Hart County Jail on a $9,500 bond.
Munfordville Police Chief Greg Atwell assisted in the execution of the search warrant.
This group brings the total to nine people arrested for drug charges, including four people arrested on Hart County Grand Jury indictments for drug charges on Monday.
