A Summersville man was arrested Friday in connection with a shooting incident in Hart County.
Freddie Wells, 56, was charged with first-degree assault, menacing, first-degree disorderly conduct, first-degree terroristic threatening and first-degree wanton endangerment.
Wells is accused of shooting James Jewell, 39, of Magnolia, once in the foot with a .25-caliber pistol during, said the Kentucky State Police.
The two men were arguing when the shooting incident occurred, said Trooper Charles Swiney, public affairs officer for the Kentucky State Police’s Bowling Green post.
Swiney said family members of the perpetrator were dating and may have sparked the argument between the two men.
State police were notified of the shooting incident via a call from a third party, Swiney said.
Jewell was transported to Hardin Memorial Hospital and then to the University of Louisville Hospital where he is listed in stable condition.
Wells was arrested around 7:14 p.m. Friday without incident and lodged in the Hart County Jail, the state police said.
