GLASGOW — A Barren County man who has served in multiple positions with area law enforcement agencies, city government and emergency medical services was arrested Friday in Nashville.
Roy J. Howard, 39, of Glasgow, was taken into custody by Nashville Metro Police when he was located on an alert from the National Crime Information Center on a fugitive from justice warrant from Kentucky, one felony count, shortly before noon Friday. He was wanted for possession of a forged prescription, theft of a controlled substance and first-degree possession of a controlled substance, according to the warrant.
Howard has served as a Kentucky State Trooper, an officer with the Glasgow Police Depart-ment and Park City Police Department. He has also been Park City’s city clerk and city administrator, according to current city clerk Peggy Christy, and worked as a paramedic with Barren-Metcalfe EMS, according to Mike Swift, ambulance service director.
A 9 a.m. court date was scheduled Monday morning in Davidson County Criminal Court in front of Judge Michael Mondelli for a possible extradition hearing. Howard is being held on a $100,000 bond in the Davidson County jail.
GPD public information officer Capt. Kent Keen could only confirm Monday morning that the department has an ongoing investigation into the Howard case and that an arrest warrant has been issued.
