GLASGOW — The Barren County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information about two suspicious fires from Sunday.
The first fire was around 1:20 a.m. at a barn north of Glasgow on Peterson Morrison Road. The second fire was reported about 10:20 p.m. at a house at 136 Hiseville-Coral Hill St., according to a report from the Barren County Sheriff’s Office.
Law enforcement are staying at the scene of the house fire waiting for the Kentucky Fire Marshal’s Office to arrive, said Trevor Phillips, spokesman for the sheriff’s office.
There were 500 bales of straw, but no hay and no electricity, in the barn that burned, he said.
The home was unoccupied. The residents had moved out of the home earlier in the day, Phillips said.
Units from both the Hiseville and Cave City volunteer fire departments responded, where they were able to completely maintain and extinguish both fires. Both fires are thought to be arson. The State Fire Marshal’s Office will investigate both scenes Monday, according to the report.
Anyone with information about either of these arsons is urged to contact the Barren County Sheriff’s Office at 651-2771 or the Anonymous Tip-Line at 646-8771. There is a $500 reward being offered for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the persons involved.
There have been multiple fires in the area over the past six months that have been ruled to have been arson in both the Glasgow and Barren County.
The Sheriff’s office does believe it is looking for an arsonist in both these instances, according to the report.
Deputies Adam Minor and Bobby McCown investigated.
