Man arrested in Center arson case

By GINA KINSLOW

EDMONTON — An arrest has been made in connection with several fires that occurred over the last couple of months in the Center community in Metcalfe County.

Nicholas O’Brian Davis, 18, of 5200 Glasgow Road, Edmonton, has been charged with third degree arson and was lodged in the Barren County Correction Center, said Metcalfe County Deputy Sheriff Kevin Thompson. Davis has since been released on a $1,500 cash bond. He is scheduled to appear in Metcalfe District Court on Wednesday.

Other arrests are pending in the case, Thompson said.

Davis was arrested after the sheriff’s department investigated the cause of several fires in the Center community over a period of seven months that are believed to have been intentionally set.

One of the structures that burned during the course of the investigation was an abandoned house on Pleasant Valley Church Road. It was the fourth structure fire in the Center community, Thompson said.

“It’s usually always late at night when the fires start,” Thompson said in an earlier story.

The fires tend to occur between 9 p.m. and 4 a.m., he said.

The sheriff’s department has also arrested two people on drug related charges.

Charlie Hubert Sims Jr., 37 of Hiseville, was charged with manufacturing methamphetamine (first offense), trafficking in a controlled substance (first offense), possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia (first offense).

Sheriff’s deputies discovered a meth lab inside a camping trailer on Sims’ property on the Hiseville-Center Road, Thompson said.

Sims was lodged in the Barren County Correction Center on a $15,000 cash or approved surety bond. He is scheduled to appear in Metcalfe District Court on Wednesday.

Scottie Wayne Woosley, 23, of Edmonton, was charged with first degree possession of a controlled substance (meth) and second degree possession of a controlled substance (ritalin).

Sheriff’s deputies received a complaint call about possible drug activity at Woosley’s residence on Greensburg Road. They were given permission to search the property and discovered methamphetamine and ritalin on the property, Thompson said.

Woosley was lodged in the Barren County Correction Center on a $1,500 cash or approved surety bond.

He is scheduled to appear in Metcalfe District Court on Wednesday.

Rebecca Dee Pearson, 46, of Knob Lick, was arrested after sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of domestic violence at a residence on the Robert Crenshaw Road, Thompson said.

Pearson was arrested for reporting a false incident and charged with first degree disorderly conduct; second degree assault (police officer); first degree terroristic threatening; alcohol intoxication in a public place (first and second offenses); third degree criminal mischief; menacing; and resisting arrest.

She was lodged in the Barren County Correction Center on a $750 cash bond. She is scheduled to appear in Metcalfe District Court on Wednesday.

Timothy Nunnally, 54, of Knob Lick, was charged with DUI and fleeing and evading a police officer after sheriff’s deputies received an incomplete 911 call from his residence.

Nunnally fled the scene on a four-wheeler but was arrested when he returned to the residence, Thompson said.

Nunnally was lodged in the Barren County Correction Center on a $500 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Metcalfe District Court on June 24.
