Three area trials delayed

GLASGOW — Several people had their trials continued until later dates in Barren Circuit Court Monday.

A former Glasgow man accused of sexually abusing two minors had his trial continued until June 29 in circuit court according to the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office.

Kenneth A. Brasel Sr. was previously set to go to trial Wednesday, but parties have subpoenaed text messages and are inspecting a computer hard drive for evidence.

Brasel Sr., 44, of 807 Rodgers Lane, Centerville, Tenn., is charged with first-degree rape and first-degree sexual abuse involving acts allegedly committed against two females under the age of 16 in November 2007.

Brasel was performing psychological services at the time.

He is currently lodged in the Barren County Correction Center.

Kenneth Anthony Brasel Jr., 19, also of 807 Rodgers Lane, Centerville, Tenn., also had a hearing and was set for a status hearing on Sept. 14.

Brasel Jr. was charged in February with possession of matter portraying a sex performance by a minor.

Bernis Wayne Rupe Jr., 27, of Glasgow, also had a hearing and his case was continued until June 29, due to his attorney, Rep. Johnny Bell, D-Glasgow, serving in his other role as state legislator in the current special session.

Rupe Jr. is charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police, two counts of fourth-degree assault and violation of a Kentucky EPO/DVO for an incident that occurred in January 2006 that involved Rupe allegedly choking his former spouse and fleeing from Glasgow Police Officers.
