Wright named Cave City police chief

GLASGOW — Maj. Jeff Wright was named Cave City's new police chief Monday morning during a quiet ceremony.

Wright, who began his law enforcement career in the 1980s with the Edmonton Police Department, has more than 20 years of experience.

“I'm excited that I've been given the opportunity to work for the city of Cave City,” he said.

Wright wants to see the police department to move forward in a positive direction and for its officers to continue serving Cave City citizens as they have in the past.

Wright succeeds Chief Billy Minton, who resigned in July due to the development of a hearing problem after having served 11 years as Cave City's police chief and 17 years with the police department.

“I think they made a fine selection,” Minton said Monday. “It was my recommendation all along that they appoint him chief. He's very dedicated and I think he will do an outstanding job.”
