WILLIE FEST

Koncert will benefit Kosair kids

GLASGOW — WillieFest — a concert that will benefit Kosair Charities — is set to take place Saturday at the Plaza Theatre.

The concert is being presented by Willie 94.1 Real Country.

“Willie has kind of adopted Kosair Charities,” said Freda Smith, event coordinator. “This concert is our way of raising money to donate to Kosair Charities through the Glasgow Shrine Club.”

The radio station has a fundraising goal of $5,000.

Performing will be country music singer/songwriter Marty Brown, along with his son, Marty Brown Jr.

Brown is known for penning the hit single, “I’m From the Country and I Like It That Way.”

Joining him in performing will be Greg Foresman and the Greg Foresman Band. Foresman also plays guitar for country recording artist Martina McBride.

Performing at benefits is something Foresman does quite often and it is something he enjoys doing.

“Anytime I get a chance, I’ll participate in things like this,” he said. “It is just part of my spiritual teachings that when you get the chance to give back, you take the opportunity.”

Up and coming artist from Taylorsville, J.D. Shelburne, will also be performing, as well as Colton Kise, a Barren County High School junior.

In addition, there will be a silent auction and several door prizes will be given away, Smith said.

“It’s just going to be a family event,” she said. “
