GLASGOW —
The Glasgow Fire Department was called to a fire at Ply-Tech Corporation shortly after noon Wednesday.
When units arrived on the scene at 845 Industrial Drive, off Ky. 1297, at about 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, firefighters reported that employees of the facility had been evacuated and smoke was visible inside and outside the building, according to a GFD report.
It was determined by responding firefighters and plant personnel that the fire was located in a collection silo outside, but adjacent to, the building. Numerous other small fires were also detected in the dust collection system inside the main facility.
Firefighters were able to knock down and contain the fires in the silo and dust collection system in about one hour and 45 minutes, according to the report.
GFD officials called in six off-duty firefighters and requested additional help from South Barren Volunteer Fire Depart-ment because of the nature of the blaze and where it was located.
The cause of the fire is undetermined, but fire officials believe it started in the collection silo.
Plant personnel were unavailable for comment on the extent of the blaze or damage estimates to the property.
Firefighters remained on the scene for approximately six hours performing overhaul on the silo and dust collection system until after 6 p.m.
No injuries were reported.
Units of the local fire department were also assisted at the scene by Barren-Metcalfe Emer-gency Medical Service and the Glasgow Water Company.
