GLASGOW —  

Glasgow police arrested three people earlier this week at Walmart on shoplifting charges.

Police were called to Walmart at 4:45 p.m. on Nov. 7 to investigate a possible shoplifting incident. The store's loss prevention employees told police she observed Travis Eugene Mercer, 20, of Glasgow, conceal a printer cartridge and attempt to exit the store, according to a Glasgow Police Department report.

Police placed Mercer under arrest and charged him with theft by unlawful taking or disposition (shoplifting) and lodged him in the Barren County Detention Center, the report stated.

Mercer was released from jail on Nov. 8.

At 3:38 p.m. on Nov. 8 , police were called to Walmart in response to an alleged shoplifter. Upon arrival, police learned the store's loss prevention employees had observed Michael L. Watson, 19, of Smiths Grove, had taken a tool set, Airsoft ammunition and a Co2 cartridge.

Watson was arrested and charged with theft by unlawful taking or disposition (shoplifting) and lodged in the Barren County Detention Center.

Watson was released from jail on Nov. 9.

Police responded to Walmart a second time on Nov. 8 at 7:52 p.m. where the store's loss prevention employees observed Felez Atkins Jr., 19, of Pensacola, Fla., placing a large number of items in a shopping cart and then leave the store with the carts full of merchandise without paying for it, according to a police report.

Atkins was taken into custody and charged with theft by unlawful taking over $500 (shoplifting). He was lodged in the Barren County Detention Center.

Upon arrival at the jail two packs of Nite Time cold and flu medication were found in Atkin's pants. The total amount of merchandise taken was about $665, according to the police report.

According to the jail records, Atkins appeared in court on Nov. 9, entered a guilty plea and was sentenced to 12 days in jail.

Also on Nov. 8, police were called to 307 Joe Traylor Ave. at 3:54 p.m. in reference to a complaint that a woman was yelling.

Capt. Eddie Lindsey stated that when he arrived on the scene, Loretha G. Carter, 38, of Glasgow, was yelling and telling him and other police officers to leave, according to a police report.

Lindsey also stated Carter was intoxicated and that she cussed at him in the front yard to the point that neighbors were watching. He also said Carter said she wished he would die, the report stated.

When Lindsey told Carter she was under arrest she refused to be placed in handcuffs. Lindsey was eventually able to get Carter to comply, the report stated.

Carter was charged with second-degree disorderly conduct and resisting arrest and lodged in the Barren County Detention Center.

Carter was released from jail on Nov. 9.
