8:16 MORNING UPDATE: KSP requesting assistance in death investigation

LIBERTY — Troopers and detectives from Columbia have been involved in a death investigation since Wednesday night.

KSP was notified at aproximately 10:04 p.m. EDT by the Casey County Dispatch that a body had been found at the Tarter Gate Company off of U.S. 127 in Casey County, stated Trooper Billy Gregory, public information officer for the state police post, in a press release. 

Wendell Pyles, 50, of Columbia was identified as the deceased and foul play is suspected, Gregory said.

KSP is asking that if anyone saw any suspicious vehicles, persons or activity around 10 p.m. EDT in the vicinity of Tarter Gate on U.S. 127 to please contact them at (800) 222-5555.  Callers may remain anonymous. The investigation is ongoing and additional details will be released at a later time, Gregory said.
