GLASGOW —
Former Fortis Manufacturing Plant Manager, Paul MacLain is taking Glasgow/Barren County Industrial Development Economic Authority Executive Director Dan Iacconi’s place during his six-month leave of absence.
Iacconi’s absence began on March 1. He has had a hand in creating nearly 1,520 new jobs in the Glasgow and Barren County surrounding area over the last four years by supporting industry growth from Amneal Pharmaceutical, Inc. to Akebono Brake, LLC. Though it’s big shoes to fill, MacLain said he feels comfortable with the new role.
MacLain and his family came to town in August 2011 to bring Fortis Manufacturing to Glasgow, a move that created about 100 new jobs in the area. He stepped down from this role in September 2012 and he said he’s pleased to “contribute to the community in a different way.”
He said he wanted to move to Glasgow because he believed the people here are “amazing,” and he still feels that way.
“I’m really impressed with the (IDEA) board, their community consciousness is really comforting,” he said. “I want to bring as much business to Glasgow and Barren County as possible.”
MacLain said he’s spent many years in the business world and understands the role of business is about “supplying a need.”
