KY Headhunter Martin set for Tuesday show at Glasgow's Plaza

GLASGOW — A concert that will launch the start of a monthly show featuring Greg Martin, lead guitarist for The Kentucky HeadHunters, is set for Tuesday night at the Plaza Theatre.

The show, which gets under way at 7 p.m., is part of the theater's Here and Now Live Series.

Each month Martin will be joined on stage by friends and fellow musicians for an intimate, lightly-plugged show.

Sharing the stage with him Tuesday night will be Greg Foresman, guitarist for country superstar Martina McBride; Dean Smith, guitarist for Lexington-based Taildragger and Glasgow-based Rufus Huff; and Chris Hardesty, drummer for Rufus Huff and Bowling Green-based The Fender Benders.

Martin, Foresman, Smith and Hardesty have played together in the past.

“This is a fun thing we do two or three times a year. When we do play out, we call ourselves The Grateful Gregs,” said Martin. “We will be jamming on blues and rock standards, plus some of Greg Foresman's original tunes.”

Don't expect to hear any Kentucky HeadHunter or Rufus Huff music during the concert, he said.

“This is a whole different thing altogether,” Martin said. “It'll be very loose. We'll be playing electric, but more in a blues vain.”

The idea for the Here and Now Live Series came about when theater officials looked for a way to make the Plaza stage more available to local and regional musicians.
