GLASGOW —
Barren and Metcalfe county circuit court clerks’ offices will continue into a new term without any hitches, as both clerks won re-election and there has been no staff turnover. Barren County Circuit Court Clerk Krissie Coe Fields and Metcalfe County Circuit Court Clerk Tommy Garrett were sworn in for their second full terms Monday morning in the Barren County Courthouse by Circuit Court Judge Phil Patton.
Krissie Coe Fields won a decisive victory in a widely talked about race against challenger Jill Bryant in November. Fields became circuit court clerk in May 2006, after winning the primary election unopposed and being placed in the position a few months early following the retirement of her predecessor.
Looking forward at a new term, Fields said new policies and budget cuts handed down by the state have had a significant impact on the clerk’s office, and they are focusing on the implementation of those new policies in the coming months, and maintaining a solid budget.
“Basically, [we want] to continue to operate the office on tight budget issues with the state. That’s always a challenge,” Fields said.
