Glasgow City Council begins new year with water funds

GLASGOW — In its effort to move along its plan to implement a storm water fee this spring, the Glasgow City Council began the process for some midyear money moving.

At its regular meeting Monday at city hall, the council unanimously passed first reading of an ordinance that would transfer allocations from other places in the budget for the current fiscal year ending June 30 to start funding the expenses, such as payroll, engineering, printing, postage and communications.

Part of the funds – $15,452 for payroll – would simply move from the Street Department’s general fund. That department’s normal responsibilities deal with storm water on a regular basis. The other $38,000 would come from unappropriated general funds.

A second reading of the ordinance is required before it is passed. The council’s next meeting is at 7 p.m. Jan. 28.

In other  business, several council members were reappointed to their respective boards and other groups as representatives of the city.
