Briefs: Three arrested on warrants

Glasgow police served indictment warrants on three Barren County residents and arrested two Glasgow women for suspected methamphetamine use in separate incidents Monday.

Officers arrested Randall Matthew Carter, 27, of Cave City, after serving an indictment warrant on charges of first-degree sexual abuse of a victim under age 12 and second-degree persistent felony offender. He is being held on a $10,000 cash or surety bond in the Barren County Correction Center.

Bobbie Jeffries, 33, and Stephen Frazier, 30, both of Glasgow, were arrested at the same location at 107 Ford Dr. on indictment warrants. Jeffries was charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance — methamphetamine, first-degree persistent felony offender, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana. She is being held at the Barren County Correction Center on a $10,000 surety bond.

Police charged Frazier with third-degree burglary, theft by unlawful taking, third-degree criminal mischief, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.

Also Monday, during a traffic stop, police noticed indications that Angela Long, 28, and Marketta Richman, 42, both of Glasgow, had been using meth. A search of Long’s vehicle resulted in the discovery of a small, clear, plastic bag containing a white powdery substance suspected to be meth and a simulated cigarette which was actually a small container used to hide contraband, according to a GPD report.

Long was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs, first-degree possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, disregarding a stop sign, failure to or improper use of signal and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police charged Richman with first-degree possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine. According to a GPD report, both Richman and Long admitted to smoking meth prior to the traffic stop.

A preview party for a film about Mammoth Cave National Park is planned for Tuesday night.

Renowned documentary filmmaker Ken Burns, whose works include “The Civil War,” “Baseball,” “Jazz” and “The War,” is known for making use of historical film footage and photographs. In his latest documentary, “The National Parks,” Burns showcases some of the nation’s greatest natural wonders.

The Edmonson County Tourism Commission and Mammoth Cave Hotel will have a public film preview party on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Rotunda Room of hotel. WKYU-PBS will show part of the new documentary series, “Mammoth Cave – A Way To Wonder.”

The event is free of charge. Approximately 12 minutes of the film will be shown. Refreshments will be served.
