HORSE CAVE — MEETING: Horse Cave City Council
DATE: Oct. 12, 2009
NEW COUNCIL MEMBER: City attorney Pat Ross administered the oath of office to newly appointed council member Ray Wilcoxson, who fills a vacancy left by the resignation of Councilwoman JoAnne Smith.
ACTION: Council members took the following action: Approved minutes of the September meetings; approved monthly financial report; agreed to set trick-or-treating hours at 5 to 7 p.m. on Oct. 31 for children 12 and under; and agreed to sell a tract of land owned by the city on Guthrie Street as surplus property and to sell it by sealed bids.
CITIZENS CONCERNS: Construction of new fire station.
COUNCIL CONCERNS: Bird roost problem in downtown building; bids received to repair Thomas House; street light repairs; park grant; 2007-08 audit; sidewalk condition; and making Guthrie Street open as a two-way street all the way; repair of New Street; the inclusion of the city of Horse Cave in the flood plain map so the city can qualify for funding through the Federal Emergency Management Agency; and having the city attorney look into who is responsible for paying for repairs to a gravestone in Main Street Cemetery after it was hit by a runaway car.
EXECUTIVE SESSION: Council members met in executive session to discuss pending litigation with their attorney David Broderick. Upon resuming their open session, an announcement was made that no action had been taken during the executive session.
