GLASGOW — A single-vehicle wreck on Happy Valley Road sent a Glasgow man to the hospital on Monday.
Around 10 a.m. Christopher L. Turner, 40, was traveling east in a 2004 Toyota Corolla on Happy Valley Road near Wedgewood Drive when a medical condition, possibly a seizure, caused him to black out and cross the turning lane and westbound lane, according to a Glasgow Police Department report.
The vehicle crossed the sidewalk, struck a street sign and travelled approximately 58 yards across the grass until stopped by a utility pole.
The impact caused severe damage to the vehicle and broke the utility pole in half, according to the report. Turner advised officers that he did not recall any of this, and he complained of pain to his head.
Barren-Metcalfe EMS transported him to T.J. Samson Community Hospital where he was treated and released, according to hospital spokesman Bart Logsdon. A passenger in the vehicle, Judy Turner, was not injured.
Windstream Communications utility crews replaced the utility pole. William Ray, EPB Superintendent, said he was unaware of any electricity customers being affected by an outage.
Man arrested for drug possession
GPF officers arrested a Glasgow man on drug charges Monday around 5:30 p.m.
While officers were serving a warrant on John W. Cole, 44, 101 Ellison Ave., Glasgow, they observed a package of rolling papers and a green leafy substance lying on top of a coffee table, according to a Glasgow Police Department report. When officers recognized the substance, Cole pushed it onto the floor and grabbed the rolling papers.
Officers also found a baggie of marijuana in plain view in the kitchen, another package of rolling papers and a rolling machine in the living room, according to the report.
Police charged Cole with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, second offense. He was lodged at the Barren County Correction Center on $750 bond.
