GLASGOW — MEETING: Glasgow City Council

DATE: Oct. 26, 2009

ACTION: Council members took the following action: approved the minutes of the Oct. 12 meeting, defeated an ordinance on second reading that would decrease the numerical composition of the city council, tabled an ordinance on first reading that would amend Code of Ordinances, Section 130.30, relating to the discharge of firearms at the municipal airport.

ANNOUNCEMENTS: Mayor Darrell Picket announced that the observed hours for Halloween on Saturday will be from 5 to 7:30 p.m. and that masks are only allowed on children 12 years of age or younger. He said the city property tax bills will be put in the mail on Friday and that bills paid in November will receive a 2 percent discount. December payments will receive a 1 percent discount and January payments will be at face value. Also, the city leaf collections will not begin until the majority of the leaves have fallen, which has tentatively been set for around Nov. 9. Once the collection schedule is ready, it will be made public through the newspaper and listed on the city’s Web site. Pickett said the zones will likely be similar to last year, but a final determination has not yet been made.
