GLASGOW — The first round of H1N1, or swine flu, vaccinations will arrive at area health departments this week. Flu vaccine clinics will be available for those people considered to be in a designated priority group, with more vaccines coming later for other individuals.
The H1N1 priority groups include health care and emergency medical services personnel, including law enforcement and fire fighters, pregnant women, children and young adults aged six months to 24 years, people living with or caring for children young than six months old and people 25 to 64 years old with chronic health problems, according to a Barren River District Health Department report.
Flu shots will be available in Barren, Metcalfe and Hart counties while only the flu mist vaccine will be offered in Edmonson County. Clinics are held at the county health department buildings. The Barren County vaccine clinics will be held this Friday and again on Friday, Nov. 13. Metcalfe County clinics will take place on Tuesday and Friday. Both the Hart County and Edmonson County vaccine clinics will be on Wednesday.
