Four injured in crash

GLASGOW — Four Glasgow residents were slightly injured Tuesday when a tractor-trailer collided with their vehicle and sent them into the median of the Louie B. Nunn Parkway in Glasgow.

The truck, driven by Steven Lee Arp, 58, of Des Moines, Iowa, was hauling cattle and travelling west along the parkway when it moved into the left lane near the Ky. 90 on ramp to give room for surveyors on the side of the road, according to Barren County Sheriff’s Deputy Mike Wood, the investigating officer.

A 2000 Pontiac Bonneville driven by Brittney D. Wolfgang, 22, of Glasgow then entered the parkway from Ky. 90, and as the vehicle was in the right lane getting up to speed, the semi truck began to change lanes back into the right lane, Wood said.

The truck and car collided as the truck struck the driver’s side of the vehicle, causing the car to spin to its left where the left front of the truck also struck the driver’s side of the car, he said. The car then entered the median of the roadway where it came to a rest near the eastbound lanes.

Wolfgang and her passengers, Jeffrey C. Wyatt, 45, Lucas G. Brown, 3, and Creedence Wolfgang, 16 months, all of Glasgow, were each transported to T.J. Samson Community Hospital with minor injuries and were treated and released, Wood said. Arp was not injured, and he pulled his truck to the side of the parkway near the U.S. 31E exit ramp.

Brittney Wolfgang and Wyatt were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision, but the two children were properly fastened in the back seat, Wood said. No charges are expected in the incident.

Wood was assisted by BCSO Deputy Steve Clark, the Glasgow Police Department, Glasgow Fire Department and the Barren-Metcalfe County EMS.
