GLASGOW — Two Glasgow Police Department officers have graduated from basic training at the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training in Richmond.
Adam Bow and Justin Kirkpatrick, along with 25 law enforcement officers from 11 other agencies across the state, completed the 18 week training program on Friday, according to a DCJT report. The training consisted of more than 750 hours of recruit-level officer academy instruction, including courses on homeland security, law offenses and procedures, vehicle operations, firearms, investigations, first aid and CPR, patrol procedures orientation for new law enforcement families and mechanics of arrest, restraint and control, according to the report.
Basic training certification is mandatory for Kentucky law enforcement officers, and the new Glasgow police officers will next begin on-duty training with the department soon.
KSP Post 3 releases stats
The Kentucky State Police Post 3 in Bowling Green released its October activity report on Friday. The report includes statistics of the KSP’s citations, arrests and investigations worked during the course of the month.
According to the report, troopers and detectives issued a total of 1,499 citations of which 441 were for speeding and eight were for no child restraint. Troopers issued 119 citations for no seat belts. Thirty-nine people were arrested for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and troopers investigated 101 vehicle wrecks, including one fatal wreck.
In addition, troopers issued 541 courtesy notices, assisted 201 motorists and inspected 1,777 vehicles. And detectives and troopers investigated 1,010 complaints, opened 65 criminal cases and made 290 criminal arrests during the month.
The report also states that the nine communications officers at Post 3 received and placed a volume of 1,699 requests. KSP Post 3 serves the area encompassing Allen, Barren, Butler, Edmonson, Hart, Logan, Simpson and Warren counties.
