POLICE BRIEFS: Arrests made following car wrecks

GLASGOW — Two drivers were arrested for driving under the influence this weekend after crashing the vehicles they were driving.

The first crash occurred around 3:40 p.m. Saturday on Oil City Road west of Glasgow.

William M. Thomason, 58, of Glasgow, was driving east on Oil City Road when he lost control of his vehicle. The 1995 Ford sedan traveled off the roadway, struck a tree and overturned, according to a Barren County Sheriff’s Office report.

Thomason was taken from the scene to T.J. Samson Community Hospital where he was treated and released for his injuries. Once released from the hospital Thomason was charged with DUI and failure to produce insurance card.

The second crash occurred at Burkesville and Lick Branch roads around 1 a.m. Sunday.

Jerry L. Forster Jr., 29, of Tompkinsville, was traveling west on Burkesville Road, when he lost control of a 1997 Ford Expedition. The vehicle traveled off the roadway, struck a tree and came to rest on its side, according to a sheriff’s office report.

Forster refused treatment for injuries at the scene and was then charged with DUI first offense within five years and no operator’s license, according to the report.
