ACTIONS: Council members approved the minutes of the Nov. 9, 2009 meeting. They passed two ordinances on second reading by roll call vote, 11 to 0, with Councilman Tim Stutler being absent. The first ordinance amends the Code of Ordinances, Section 130.30, relating to the discharge of firearms at the Glasgow Municipal Airport for the express purpose of culling an overpopulation of wild turkeys. Only bow and arrow and shotguns with pellet ammunition may be used. The second ordinance amends the city’s Personnel Policies and Procedures manual by deleting Section 2-4.4, relating to longevity pay.
ANNOUNCEMENTS: Mayor Darrell Pickett and council members announced the following: Light Up Glasgow will be this Friday night. Santa will arrive at the gazebo on the square for the event at 3:30 p.m. Additional activities have been added this year to include the community’s children. The annual Christmas parade will be Saturday, Dec. 5, beginning at 6 p.m. The South Central Kentucky Cultural Center open house and home tour will be Sunday, Dec. 6, from 1 to 5 p.m. showcasing four local homes and two new exhibits at the cultural center. Advance tickets are $10, day of show $15. Saturday, Dec. 12, will be BRAWA open house on Trojan Trail. Donations of dog food, cleaning supplies and money are needed, according to Councilwoman Rhonda Riherd Trautman. The Glasgow Community Band will perform a holiday concert on Sunday, Dec. 13, at 2:30 p.m. at the Plaza Theatre.
