GLASGOW — Firefighters in Barren County responded to two fires overnight and during one of them a home was destroyed.
Emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene of an early morning house fire Thursday just after 2 a.m. at 8937 Finney Road. The fire was reported by a person passing by, according to a Barren County Sheriff’s Office report.
Upon the arrival by the South Barren and Haywood volunteer fire departments the home was engulfed in flames. The cause and origin of the fire remain under investigation by officials, according to the report. No one was in the residence when officials arrived. The home and its contents were completely destroyed, according to South Barren Volunteer Fire Chief Tony Piper.
There were no injuries and emergency personnel were on scene until shortly after 5 a.m.
The other fire did not cause as much damage.
Firefighters with the South Barren Volunteer Fire Department were called out to a house fire around 6:20 p.m. Wednesday at 186 Colesbend Road. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire quickly and contained the fire damage to a small part of the residence, according to a sheriff’s office report.
According to Piper, the fire started in a breaker box and estimated damage to the home is around a few thousand dollars.
No one was injured and emergency personnel were on scene for approximately one hour.
