MUNFORDVILLE — MEETING: Hart County Fiscal Court
DATE: Dec. 3, 2009
ACTION: Magistrates took the following actions: Agreed to grant County Court Clerk Lisa Hensley $600 each for Conroy Harris and Sherman Vance for their services on the county election committee; agreed to amend the county’s 2009-10 budget by $3,500 to advertise for delinquent taxes because the duty of property tax collection has transferred from the sheriff to the county court clerk; accepted $47,656.75 from Jailer Keith Riordan for county inmates; acknowledged receipt of sheriff and fiscal court audits; approved on second reading an ordinance amending the county’s budgets by $269,000 to cover the cost to pave county roads; approved a bank transfer of $975 from grant account to the road department: approved payment of claims; awarded an entertainment license application for Angela Miller for a karaoke business on Jackson Highway in the Canmer community; accepted the resignation of Greg Cox from the road department; approved on second reading an ordinance removing River Bottom Road from the county road system; approved on first reading an ordinance extending Timberleaf Lane by 0.34 of a mile; agreed to apply for a spay and neuter grant; agreed to pay filing fee on behalf of the jail to recover $6,690 from a prisoner; agreed to apply for an energy efficiency and conservation grant for the courthouse; approved minutes of Nov. 16 meeting; and approved magistrates’ request for road work.
DISCUSSION: Magistrates discussed dead animal removal service and U.S. Census Bureau jobs.

Tax reform suggestions coming by Nov. 15
Gov. Steve Beshear on Thursday announced the members of a Blue Ribbon Commission on Tax Reform and said it will offer recommendations by Nov. 15 to make the state’s tax system more responsive to changes in the economy and fairer for taxpayers.

After a thorough discussion during Wednesday’s board meeting, the Barren-Metcalfe Emergency Medical Services decided to outsource its billing to AMB-MARS (Medical Accounts Receivable Systems doing business as AMBulance Medical Billing), contingent on AMB-MARS adding a guarantee clause on its work.
