GLASGOW — A Glasgow man was injured slightly in a two-vehicle collision on South L. Rogers Wells Boulevard on Friday afternoon.
Danny Wyatt, 57, of 525 Lakeview Blvd., Glasgow, was a passenger in a 1984 Chevrolet van being driven by Winfred P. Hayes, 63, of 800 Cleveland Ave., Glasgow — Just before 2 p.m. Friday.
Hayes was traveling southbound on L. Rogers Wells Boulevard when a 2001 Ford Ranger pickup was driven into his path by Ernest C. Shaw, 86, of 1291 Old Glasgow Road, Glasgow, according to a Glasgow Police Department report.
Shaw told GPD Officer Jeff Crumbaugh, who responded to the scene, that he was leaving Lowe’s parking lot and attempting to make a right turn from Commercial Avenue Access and thought he had the right-of-way, according to the report. Hayes said he was unable to stop his vehicle in time to avoid the collision.
Shaw’s vehicle received severe damage to the driver’s side and Hayes’ vehicle received severe damage to the passenger side.
Both drivers said they were not in any pain and refused medical treatment. Wyatt was transported by Barren-Metcalfe Emergency Medical Service to T.J. Samson Community Hospital where he was treated and released for a minor cut on his right arm.
In a separate incident on Saturday night, a head-on collision resulted in a Glasgow woman being injured.
John F. Nichols, 17, of 535 County Barn Road, Munfordville, was driving a 1999 General Motors Sierra, traveling east on U.S. 68/Ky. 80 at the intersection with Veterans Outer Loop about 10:30 Saturday night and turned left into the westbound path of a 2001 Chevrolet Tracker driven by Donna J. Wilkinson, 46, of 4885 New Bowling Green Road, Glasgow, according to a GPD report.
Nichols and a passenger, Nathaniel L. Thompson, 19, of 300 Bales Road, Magnolia, were not injured in the crash. Wilkinson was transported by Barren-Metcalfe EMS to T.J. Samson Community Hospital where she was treated and released, according to hospital spokesperson, Bart Logsdon.
The wreck resuled in severe damage to the front of both vehicles.
GPD Officer Jason Richerson investigated at the scene.
