DATE: Dec. 17, 2009

ACTION: Magistrates took the following action: Approved minutes of November meeting; agreed to apply for energy efficiency and conservation grant to help fund the purchase of a heating and cooling system for the new courthouse; agreed to allow county attorney Wes Stephens to draw up a lease agreement between the fiscal court and the Monroe County Wellness Center board of directors for the facility; appointed magistrate Tim Gordon to replace magistrate Jeff Proffitt on the Wellness Center’s board of directors; agreed to work with the Monroe County Tourism Board to place signs regarding the barn quilt trail throughout the county; reappointed William Harlan and Jimmie Thompson to the Monroe County Extension Service Board of Directors; agreed to buy new voting machines at a cost of $10,800 approved on first reading an ordinance amending the county’s Local Governmental and Economic Authority fund by $32,188.61; acknowledged receipt of the sheriff’s 2010 budget; approved budget transfers; approved General Fund, Road Fund, Jail Fund and LGEA Fund claims; agreed to donate $2,000 to the Monroe County Economic Development Center to fund the recruitment of industry; agreed to amend the jailer’s policy and procedure manual regarding vacation and sick time for jail employees; agreed to hire Harold Reagan as a full-time employee; agreed to sell a water truck as surplus property; and approved road advisory committee projects.
