Woman killed in early-morning crash

GLASGOW — A 55-year-old Monroe County woman died as a result of a single-vehicle wreck Wednesday in southern Barren County.

The wreck occurred around 7 a.m. on Ky. 87 near Tracy Road.

Preliminary investigation indicates Sandra F. Ford was traveling west on Austin-Tracy Road in her 2001 Chevrolet Malibu and failed to negotiate a curve. The vehicle traveled off the right side of the road through a ditch-line before going airborne and striking a tree, said Trevor Phillips, public information director of the Barren County Sheriff’s Department.

Ford was pronounced dead at the scene by Barren County Coroner Mike Swift.

Ford was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Deputies Steve Runyon and Kevin Wilson are investigating.
