EDMONTON — MEETING: Metcalfe Fiscal Court

DATE: Dec. 22, 2009

ACTION: Magistrates took the following action: Approved minutes of Dec. 8 meeting; awarded a contract to McMurph Construction of Bowling Green for the Jack Sparks Bridge FEMA project pending a revised project worksheet; agreed to join the Barren-Edmonson County Drug Task Force and to contribute $2500 toward gas and the use of a vehicle; agreed to bid seven airpacks for the Summer Shade Volunteer Fire Department with funds to come from Homeland Security Grant; and approved claims and road projects.

ITEMS TABLED: Magistrates agreed to table action on adopting an ordinance pertaining to animals involved in suspected violations.

ANNOUNCEMENTS: It was announced during the meeting that the Summer Shade Volunteer Fire Department has received a $3,015 search and rescue grant to purchase equipment. It was also announced that the county has received its 2010 litter abatement funds in the amount of $24,877.81. Judge-Executive Greg Wilson announced that the county would be celebrating its 150th anniversary in 2010 and asked for ideas for the celebration as well as volunteers to help with the event. Charles Costello with the Kentucky Entrepeneural Coaches Institute through the University of Kentucky spoke to magistrates.
