The Barren County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the vandalism of an area cemetery that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Sometime between late Tuesday and early Wednesday, vandals struck Kinslow Cemetery off Oil Well Road, overturning monuments and throwing others on roads, according to a release by the BCSO.

Damage to mailboxes in the area was also reported by residents. It is thought the incidents are related as they occurred during the same time period.

Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 651-2771 or the anonymous tipline at 646-8771. Those calling the tipline anonymously are still eligible for the reward.

Horse Cave man arrested for identity theft

A Horse Cave man was arrested on identity theft charges Wednesday following an investigation by the Horse Cave Police Department.

Jason Riley, 29, of Charlie Moran Highway, allegedly possessed or used another person’s debit card without the owner’s permission on July 25 and 26, a release by the Horse Cave Police Department stated.

A Hart County felony warrant was executed against Riley by Horse Cave officers and he was lodged in the Hart County Jail. No bond has been set.

Horse Cave Chief Alan Shirley assisted in the investigation.

Short pursuit leads to marijuana cultivation arrest

Horse Cave police arrested a Cave City man Wednesday on traffic and drug charges after a pursuit of the suspect.

Prince Fryar, 30, of South Dixie Highway, was arrested on charges of driving on a DUI suspended license, first offense; second-degree fleeing and evading and cultivating marijuana, five or more plants.

About 12:30 p.m., Chief Alan Shirley attempted to stop a white Pontiac passenger car on Valuzet Street in Horse Cave that had been reported to be involved in an altercation with another person on West Main Street, according to an HCPD release.

The vehicle did not stop when police activated emergency equipment, but was eventually pulled over on Old Dixie Highway.

Police found a large plastic bucket in plain sight in the vehicle, with seven marijuana plants inside.

Fryar was transported to the Hart County Jail where he is held without bond.

HCPD was assisted by Hart County Deputy Sheriff Lanny Jewell.
