Glasgow woman killed in wreck

GLASGOW — Ciara Taylor, 23, of Glasgow, was driving a 1999 Buick eastbound in the 6000 block of Plano Road in Warren County when she lost control of her vehicle shortly after 11 a.m. Monday, according to Kentucky State Police Trooper Brett Coomes. Taylor’s vehicle struck a 1994 Chevrolet truck driven by Bailey Hughes, 74, of Bowling Green.

The crash is being reconstructed, said KSP Post 3 Public Affairs Officer Jonathan Biven, but police do not yet know why Taylor lost control. It was raining at the time of the crash, and several wrecks in the area were attributed to weather.

“It doesn’t appear that alcohol could be a factor,” Biven said. “For some unknown reason, she lost control.”

Taylor was transported to The Medical Center at Bowling Green, where she was pronounced dead by Warren County Deputy Coroner Dewayne Lawrence, a KSP release stated. Taylor’s passenger, a 17-month-old boy, was taken to Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, and Hughes was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Taylor and her passenger were wearing a seat belt and child restraint at the time of the collision, KSP reported. Hughes was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision.

Hughes and the 17-month-old were both in critical but stable condition at last check on Tuesday, according to Biven.

Coomes is leading the ongoing investigation into the wreck. He was assisted on scene by Trooper First Class Larry Davis and Trooper First Class Lonnie Hodges, MedCom, Vanderbilt LifeFlight, Alvaton and Plano fire departments and the Warren County Coroner’s Office.

Taylor was a Glasgow native and 2008 graduate of Barren County High School. She was survived by one son, Chase Taylor, her obituary states, as well as parents and other relatives. Funeral information can be found in her obituary on Page A3.
