LOCAL BRIEFS: Man in serious condition after crash

GLASGOW — A Glasgow man is in serious condition after a one-vehicle wreck that occurred on Fountain Run Road, five miles west of Gamaliel on Sunday night.

Loyd Britt Jr., 53, of Glasgow, failed to negotiate a turn in his Ford Ranger and struck a tree, causing his vehicle to catch on fire. Jonas Powell, 43, also of Glasgow, was a passenger and was transported to Monroe County Medical Center and released Sunday evening. Britt was transported with non-life threatening injuries to the University of Louisville Hospital. Seat belts were in use.

According to a release by the Kentucky State Police, Post 15 in Columbia, it is believed that alcohol was a factor and charges are pending.



Home damaged in fire

A fire on Moss Street caused an estimated $50,000 in damage Sunday afternoon.

Glasgow Fire Department crews responded to the home of Sybil Sneed, 108 Moss St, where a fire was in the dining room. The fire was extinguished in about 20 minutes, and damage was contained to the dining room and kitchen. Smoke damage was reported on the first floor of the house, according to a press release by the fire department.

Sneed exited the house without injuries. Firefighters were on the scene for about three hours, with the Barren-Metcalfe EMS, Glasgow Police Department and the Glasgow Electric Plant Board assisting.



12 arrested on meth charges

The Hart County sheriff and deputies arrested 12 people Thursday after the discovery of two methamphetamine labs at 2675 Howard Scott Road in Canmer.

Josh L. Jewell, 21, Michael E. Jewell, 23, Jeremy M. Jewell, 20, James K. Jewell, Jr., 19, and Brandon Kersey, 23, all of the residence; James K. Jewell, 40 of 788 Pikeview Road in Magnolia, David W. Sanders, 48 of 125 Kountry Kitchen Road in Hardyville, Kimberly N. Evans, 19 of 9 N. Jackson Highway in Hardyville, Ashley D. Gillespie, 23 of 211 Short St in Horse Cave, Tasa M. Cassari, 26 of 2468 Roseville Road in Glasgow, Brittney S. Dye, 19 of 3812 Charlie Moran Highway Apt. 101B in Horse Cave, and Wayne T. Kersey, 32 of 998 Rex Road in Hardyville, were all arrested and were lodged in the Hart County jail.

Sheriff Boston Hensley and Deputy Jeff Wilson found the labs after responding to a complaint of drug activity on Howard Scott Road. All 12 individuals are charged with first-degree manufacturing of meth. and Evans is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
