Three incumbents return to Cave City City Council

CAVE CITY — Five incumbents sought re-election Tuesday to the Cave City City Council, and three of them won.

Those re-elected are Seaborn Ellzey, Ellis Gary Hogan and Mike Houchens.

David Faulkner was the only member of the city council who did not seek re-election.

Rejoining the council in January will be Carol Ford, who had previously served on the council for five years.

Ford resigned in 2010 due to an illness in her family.

New to the council in January will be Gary Minor and James Wesley Pedigo.

Of those elected to the council, Ford had the highest vote total.

“I’m just looking forward to serving on the council and doing the best job I possibly can to serve the citizens of Cave City,” Ford said Tuesday night. “We’re cleaning up the town and I’m looking forward to doing my part.”

Ford also said she wanted to thank all those who voted for her.

Winning the mayor’s seat was Dwayne Hatcher, a former city councilman, who ran uncontested.

“I’m excited to be able to actually go to work. In the past year, Mayor [Bobby] Reynolds and the city council have made some positive moves in the right direction and I just want to build on those,” he said.

Hatcher continued that he believes the city council can do whatever it sets its mind to if all members work together.
