Two charged with possession of cocaine in Hart County
BOWLING GREEN – On Saturday, Dec. 29, at 1:31 a.m., Kentucky State Police Post 3 Bowling Green received information of possible drug activity at 305 Rowletts Cave Spring Road in Hart County.
When units arrived, they spoke with the owners of the property, Gary L. Thornton and Crystal L. Dennis.
A search of the residence yielded a small amount of suspected cocaine and two pipes, according to a KSP report.
Thornton and Dennis were arrested and charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance (cocaine) and drug paraphernalia. They were both lodged in the Hart County Jail.
Trooper Raymond Chambers is leading the investigation and was assisted on scene by Trooper Justin Rountree.
I-65 collision injures several family members
On Saturday, Dec. 29, at approximately 7:44 p.m., Kentucky State Police Post 3 received the report of a collision on Interstate 65 northbound, near the 68-mile marker. Roberto Diaz, 31, of Nashville, TN, was operating a 2006 Toyota Sienna mini-van, when he was struck in the rear by a 2007 Kia Sorrento SUV, being operated by Jermaine Collier, 39, of Avon, IN.
Upon impact, Diaz’ vehicle went into a skid and traveled off of the right-hand side of the roadway and entered a ditch. Collier’s vehicle traveled across the left-hand, northbound lane, where it struck and drove upon the concrete barrier wall. There were six other passengers in Diaz’ vehicle, five of whom were transported to Caverna Memorial Hospital.
These passengers included: Hector Yanez, 32, Janet Yanez, 29, Abigail Yanez , 10, Bridget Yanez, 8, and Angeline Yanez, 3, all of Nashville TN. They were treated and released for minor injuries. Collier was evaluated on scene, but refused transport.
Trooper Wes Medley was assisted on scene by the Hart County EMS, Munfordville Fire Department, Stanton’s Towing and R&B Towing.

The camp provides the kids with education about responsible pet ownership and brings awareness to the services BRAWA offers. All the money collected for the kids' participation in the summer camp goes back to the shelter to provide for the animals and other community educational programs.
