William G. ‘Bill’ Evans

MURRAY — William G. “Bill” Evans, 78, died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010, at Murray Calloway County Hospital.

He was born in Glasgow on Nov. 29, 1931, the son of the late W. George and Idelle Elliott Evans.

Mr. Evans was involved with the following organizations: Kentucky Civil War Round Table, Kentucky Historical Society and he was a former Jaycee. He retired from the Kentucky Department of Transportation. He was an oil jobber in Glasgow and served as Chamber of Commerce manager in Frankfort, Cynthiana and Aurora, Ill. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Frankfort, and an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from the Bowling Green College of Commerce.

Survivors include his wife, Pat Evans of Almo, whom he married on April 9, 1955, in Jacksonville, Fla.; one daughter: Rosanne E. Radke (Paul) of Murray; one son: Jim Evans of Louisville; two sisters: Jane Goebel (Glen) of Taylorsville, and Martha Ann Jolly (Larry) of Glasgow; two grandchildren: Jessie Radke Leddy (Jeff) of Tupelo, Miss., and Carrie Radke of Murray; and one great-grandchild: Morgan Rose Leddy of Tupelo, Miss.

Funeral services will be Saturday, Jan. 30, at 11:30 a.m. at LeCompte-Johnson-Taylor Funeral Home in Frankfort, with Dr. David Hinson officiating. Cremation was chosen. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral hour on Saturday at the funeral home.

Mona V. Gore

SPRINGFIELD — Mona V. Gore, 79, formerly of Park City, died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010, in Springfield.

She was the daughter of the late George Carroll and Cella Sales Carroll and wife of the late Herbert Gore.

Graveside services will be noon on Saturday, Jan. 30, at Stockholm Church Cemetery.



Joe T. Huff

EDMONTON — Joe T. Huff, 80, died Thursday, Jan. 28, 2010, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital. He was a son of the late Sylvester and Hallie Harper Huff and a member of Wisdom Faith Community Church.

He is survived by his wife, Edna Hood Huff; one daughter: Patricia (Michael) Bean of Algood, Tenn.; two sons: James W. (Cindy) Huff of Cookeville, Tenn., and Danny Joe (Bonnie) Huff of Lebanon, Tenn.; six grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; one sister: Marie (Eugene) Pedigo of Edmonton; and one brother: Paul Junior (Joyce) Huff of Edmonton.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Vern Bunch, Joyce Harrison and Marsha Gail Capps; and two brothers, Wendell and Cecil Huff.

Funeral services will be Monday, Feb. 1, at 11 a.m. at Wisdom Faith Community Church, with Brother Earlene Branstetter officiating. Burial will follow in Summer Shade Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 31, at the church, and continue Monday from 8 a.m. until funeral time.

Tristram E. Perkins

GLASGOW — Tristram E. Perkins, 87, of Glasgow died Friday, Jan. 29, 2010, at NHC Healthcare Facility in Glasgow.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete, but are under the direction of A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home.



Mark Anthony Smith

EDMONTON — Mark Anthony Smith, 38, of Edmonton, died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2010, at his home.

He was the son of Brenda Smith of Edmonton. Mark was a licensed funeral director and embalmer in the state of Kentucky. He was a graduate of Mid America School of Mortuary Science.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 1, 2010, at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with burial in Edmonton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 until 8 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Besides his mother, he is survived by his grandmother: Leola Smith of Edmonton. Mark is also survived by three uncles: Joe, Tommy and David Smith, all of Edmonton; four aunts: Faye Word, Patricia White and Mary Jessie, all of Edmonton, Bonnie Harbour of Mississippi. Mark is also survived by a special friend, Bonita Harper, of Edmonton.

Rev. Winford Smith

MUNFORDVILLE — Rev. Winford Smith, 92, passed away at 8 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, 2010, at home.

He was the son of the late Thurman and Russie Fletcher Smith. He was a heavy equipment operator, a member of the Cane Run Baptist Church and was an ordained Missionary Baptist minister, having pastored churches throughout Kentucky and in Red Boiling Springs, Tenn.

He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Ora Powell Smith; three daughters: Mattie Hughes and husband J.C. of Bowling Green, Freda Regan and husband Bill of Clarkson, and Nadine Vincent and husband Ben of Cub Run; three sons: Tom Smith and wife Judy of Munfordville, Marion Smith and wife Linda of Munfordville, and Ricky Smith and wife Loretta of Center; one sister, Marcella Smith of Munfordville; 14 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services for Rev. Winford Smith will be 11 a.m. Sunday in the chapel of Sego Funeral Home, Munfordville, with Brother Jack Srygler and Brother Lendall Shirley officiating. Burial will be in Cane Run Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 9 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday after 9 a.m. at Sego Funeral Home, Munfordville, until time for services.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Cane Run Cemetery or Old Dorsey Chapel Cemetery.

Herbert Twyman

MONROE COMMUNITY — Herbert Twyman, 87, died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010, at the Hart County Health Care Center in Horse Cave.

He was the son of the late Gobel Twyman and Mary Hancock Twyman, and his step-mother, Ruby Twyman.

Survivors include his wife, Frankie Twyman of Monroe.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 1, 2010, in the chapel of Winn Funeral Home, Horse Cave, with burial in Whickerville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 until 8 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

DELAND, Fla. — Mildred O’Neil Larson, 87, died at 3:30 Sunday afternoon, Jan. 24, 2010, at the Florida Hospital in DeLand, Fla. Services to honor O’Neil will be as follows: Viewing/visitation on Saturday, Jan. 30, at 10 a.m. ET, followed by memorial service at 11 a.m. ET at First Alliance Church, 2201 Old Higbee Mill Road, Lexington. A service at the burial site begins at 3:30 p.m. CT at Poplar Log Cemetery in Barren County. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to: Western Dani Bible Translation in honor of Mildred O.
