Donald Catron

GLASGOW — Donald R. Catron, 69, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2009, at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time but are under the direction of the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home.



Wendell Cox

GLASGOW — Wendell Cox, 87, died Friday, Jan. 29, 2010, at the NHC Healthcare Facility in Glasgow.

He was born in Metcalfe County, the son of the late willie M. and Inez (Sympson) Cox.

Wendell was the former manage of Lessenberry Electric and Plumbing and enjoyed farming. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II serving in the European Theater of Operations. Mr. Cox was also one of the founding members of the Immanuel Baptist Church in Glasgow.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Matthews Cox; two sons: Larry Cox of Glasgow and Leland Cox and wife, Debbie, of Cave City; two daughters: Linda Cox Quinlan and husband, Dan, of Paducah, and Cheryl Cox Button and husband, Kevin, of Glasgow; eight grandchildren: Paul Cox, Julie Cox Davis (Jeff); Nikkie Poland (Chad); Kelly Kaunisto (Joel); Jennifer and Matt Quinlan and Carey and Brice Button; six great-grandchildren; four brothers: Glen Cox (Margaret), Arnold Cox (Audrey), and Don Cox (Louise) all of Glasgow and Billy Cox (Abby) of Indiana; two sisters: Frances Cooper of Glasgow and Lucille Short of Indiana; and a brother-in-law Preston Thomas of Glasgow and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Nelda Thomas and a brother-in-law Tommy Cooper.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the A. F. Crow and Son Funeral Home with burial in the Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.



Charles Henry ‘Chuck’ Evans

SMITHS GROVE — Charles Henry “Chuck” Evans, 71, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2010, at Jewish Hospital.

He was a Warren County native and the son of the late Harry Maxie Evans and Lavera Lacy Bullington Evans. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Dixie Evans. He was the owner/operator of the Chuck Evans Liquor Outlets. He was a member of Smiths Grove Presbyterian Church and a Kentucky Colonel.

Survivors include his wife, Dolly Esparza Evans; a daughter, Kathy Warden and her husband, Randy, of Bowling Green; four sons, Lance Lesh and wife, Mary Frances, of Lorain, Ohio, Tristan Evans and wife, Becky, of Smiths Grove, Charlie Evans and wife, Lisa, of Bowling Green, and Robert Evans and wife, Lisa, of Bowling Green; seven grandchildren, Landon and Cristan Lesh and Erika, Carson, Garrett, Parker and Meredith Evans; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be noon Tuesday, Feb. 2, at Smiths Grove Cemetery. A celebration of life will be 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. until noon Tuesday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel.

Welby Keith Garmon

MARROWBONE — Welby Keith Garmon, 74, died Thursday, Jan. 28, 2010, at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Willis Garmon, of Marrowbone.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 31, at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home, in Burkesville, with burial in Marrowbone Cemetery.



Alma Lawler

MUNFORDVILLE — Alma Lawler, 91, died at 10:50 a.m. Friday, Jan. 29, 2010, at Caverna Memorial Hospital.

She was the daughter of the late Henry and Mary Sullivan Day.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Sego Funeral Home in Munfordville with burial in Cub Run Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 9 p.m. and after 8 a.m. Monday until the funeral at the funeral home.



Tristram Edwin Perkins

GLASGOW — Tristram Edwin Perkins, 87, of Glasgow, died Friday, Jan. 29, 2010 at the NHC Healthcare Facility in Glasgow. He was born in Metcalfe County the son of the late William Herman Perkins and Cora Jane Free Perkins. Tristram was an auto mechanic and former co-owner of College St. Garage. He was a WWII veteran, a 50 year member of Allen Lodge #24 F&AM; in Glasgow and a member of the First United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife of whom they would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010, Nell Whitlow Perkins; a son Maurice Perkins and wife, Charlotte, of Glasgow; one daughter Sandy Johnson and husband, Eugene, of Naperville, IL; five grandchildren Randy (Mary) Perkins of Glasgow, Jeff (Teresa) Perkins of Franklin, KY, Laura (Scott) Griggs of Louisville, Stacey (Rick) Hughes of Bowling Green and Dan (Renna Kaye) Pedigo of Glasgow. Thirteen great grandchildren including newest member of the family, 7-month-old Ryder Tristram Griggs and several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Lucille Hope and five brothers Joe, Jack, Edgar, Calvin and Jim Perkins.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Monday, Feb. 1 at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home.

Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of memorial contributions to the First United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 500 S. Green St., Glasgow, KY 42141.



Elizabeth Johnson Miller

TOMPKINSVILLE — Elizabeth Johnson Miller, 79, of 106 S. Magnolia St., passed away Thursday, Jan. 28, 2010, at The Medical Center in Bowling Green.

Elizabeth was born April 9, 1930, in Monroe County, to the late Fred and Matilda Downing Johnson. She was a member of Tompkinsville First Baptist Church, married George M. Miller on May 17, 1947, at the home of Raymond Jones. She was co-owner of Miller’s Men Wear.

Elizabeth is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: Joe and Janet Miller of Tompkinsville, George Earl and Donna Miller of Sevierville, Tenn.; four grandchildren: Lindsay Miller, Todd and (Liz) Starnes, Cara and (D.J.) Jamison, Dillon Miller; four great-grandchildren: Gannon Starnes, Aubree Starnes, D’andre Jamison and Caleb Jamison.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Tompkinsville First Baptist Church with Brother Tom Stokes officiating. Burial will be in Monroe County Memorial Lawns. Visitation will be Monday, Feb. 1, 2010, after 2 p.m. at Yokley-Trible Funeral Home, Tompkinsville, and Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010, after 9 a.m. at Tompkinsville First Baptist Church.



Leonard Albert Whitley

Leonard Albert Whitley, 74, of Smiths Grove, died Saturday, January 30, 2010, at the Hospice Center in Bowling Green. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time but are under the direction of the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home.
