Fowler Crain

MUNFORDVILLE — Fowler Crain, 80, passed away Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009, at his residence.

The Hart County native was born on Sept. 1, 1929. He was employed as a security officer by the U.S. Treasury Department and was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict.

He was the son of the late Fowler J. Crain and the late Rubye (Storey) Crain.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Lucy (Richardson) Crain, Glasgow; two sons: Mike Crain, Newport News, Va., and David Crain, Glasgow.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. today (Tuesday) at Brooks Funeral Home, Munfordville, with Brother Harold Sharber officiating. Interment will be in Munfordville Municipal Cemetery with military rites to be conducted.

Virginia M. Rogers

PARK CITY — Virginia M. Rogers, 80, died Friday, Sept. 4, 2009, at the Medical Center in Bowling Green.

The Barren County native was the daughter of the late Raymond Clyde and Mable Martin Thomas and the widow of Lenard Rogers. She was a saleslady for Walmart and attended Salem Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons: Steve Rogers, Mark Rogers and Scott Rogers; two brothers: Raymond Clyde Thomas Jr., Clarksville, Ind., Richard (Margie) Thomas, Glasgow; three sisters: Grace (J.T.) Pedigo, Glasgow, Louetta Pedigo, Glasgow, Brenda (Tony) Martin, Horse Cave; a son-in-law: James Milburn; three grandchildren: Brad Milburn, Jim Milburn, Chris (Michelle) Rogers and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter Dinah Milburn.

Funeral services with Rev. Eddie Atkins officiating will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, at Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel, Cave City, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Park City.

Donna Steenbergen Freeman

SCOTTSVILLE — Donna Steenbergen Freeman, 48, died Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009, at her residence.

She was the daughter of the late Kenneth Steenbergen and Brenda Clark Steenbergen, who survives. Other survivors include her husband, Robert Freeman.

Funeral services were Monday, Sept. 7, at 11 a.m. at Hughes Funeral Home Chapel in Fountain Run with burial in the Fountain Run Cemetery.



Homer Jessie

EDMONTON — William Homer Jessie, 89, died Friday, Sept. 4, 2009, at his home.

He was the son of the late Roy and Minnie Ballard Jessie and husband of the late Bessie Jessie.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Monday at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with burial in Vanzant Cemetery.



Lovie Howard Kinnaird

EDMONTON — Lovie Howard Kinnaird, 84, died Sunday, Sept. 6, 2009, at the Medical Center in Bowling Green.

She was the daughter of the late Emmitt and Velma Douglas Clark.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with burial in Beech Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

She is survived by her husband, R.T. Kinnaird of Edmonton; two daughters: Linda (Leroyce) Barlow of Edmonton, Judy (Tommy) Walker of Bowling Green; one brother: Lindburgh Clark of Indianapolis; two grandchildren: Danielle Barlow (Poppy Franklin) and Nickki Walker of Bowling Green; three great-grandchildren: Jaden Franklin, Tristan Franklin, and Nikos Ragland.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters: Lola and Opal Clark; and one brother: Herman Clark.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes contributions be made to Beech Grove Cemetery.



Margaret Y. Smith

CAVE CITY — Margaret Y. Smith, 76, died Thursday, Sept. 3, 2009, at Metcalfe County Nursing Home, Edmonton.

The Barren County native was the daughter of the late Cecil and Bessie Jewel Smith.

Graveside services were at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 7, at the Cave City Cemetery. There was no visitation.



Velma E. (Bybee) Turner

BOWLING GREEN — Velma E. (Bybee) Turner, 96, formerly of Columbus, Ohio, died Thursday, Sept. 3, 2009, in Bowling Green.

She was the daughter of the late Garnett and Bessie Short Bybee and widow of the late Robert Turner.

She is survived by one sister-in-law: Marjorie Bybee of Glasgow; one nephew: Larry Bybee of Glasgow; three nieces: Dorothy (James) Gilmore and Phyllis McNeil of Indianapolis, Ind., and Sandra (Charles) Lewis of Bowling Green; several great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas Bybee; four nephews, Herman Armstrong, Nathaniel Bybee, Alvin Bybee and Nathan Bybee.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in Pleasant Oak Ridge Church Cemetery.

Angela Dawn Wertz

BOWLING GREEN — Angela Dawn Wertz, 32, died Monday, Sept. 7, 2009, at the Hospice Center of Bowling Green.

She was the daughter of Jerry Wertz and wife Carol, and Valinda Herrin and husband Robert.

Cremation was chosen. There will be no service or visitation. Hardy & Son Funeral Homes Inc., Bowling Green Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.



Judy Elliott Walker

GLASGOW — Judy Elliott Walker, 38, died Sunday, Sept. 6, 2009, at her home.

She was born in Stuttgart, Germany, on Aug. 23, 1971. Judy was a homemaker and a former school teacher at Cornerstone Academy. She was a graduate of Barren County High School and Western Kentucky University and was a member of the Glasgow Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Matt Walker; two sons: Cody Alan Walker and Dusty Chandler Walker, both at home; her parents: Joe and Janet Combest Elliott of Glasgow; grandfather: Joe Combest of Glasgow; her father- and mother-in-law: Jackie and Judy Walker of Glasgow; one niece, two nephews and her aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2009, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. today (Tuesday) at the funeral home.

Alternate expressions of sympathy in memory of Mrs. Walker may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Amy Nicole Logsdon Wilder

CANMER — Amy Nicole Logsdon Wilder, 29, died Friday, Sept. 4, at Caverna Memorial Hospital.

She was a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. She was the daughter of Peggy and Robert Bass and Stanley Logsdon; the granddaughter of the late Bertha and Hardy Logsdon and the late William Roy and Gracie Mae Sturgeon.

She was the loving mother of one son, Colby Brian Wilder (Canmer).

Survivors also include her husband, Chris Wilder (Canmer), one sister: Misty Logsdon (Munfordville); nieces: Taylor Logsdon and Jamira Howard (Munfordville), Cierra Anderson, Madison Anderson and Kara Wilder (Canmer); nephews: Jobie Howard (Munfordville) and Damon Anderson (Canmer); and a host of aunts and uncles.

Funeral services with the Rev. Billy Vincent officiating will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, at the Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel with burial in Cave City Cemetery. Visitation, at the funeral home, will be after 4 p.m. today (Tuesday).
