GLASGOW — Peggy Bright

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Peggy “Bocco” Blankenship Bright, 77, of Knoxville, Tenn., lost her lengthy and courageous battle with cancer Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at Turkey Creek Medical Center.

Peggy was born Dec. 23, 1934, in Glasgow, the daughter of the late James Edward Blankenship and Mable Graven Blankenship, of Cave City.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Albert Blankenship.

Peggy was Salutatorian of Caverna High School class of 1952. Married for 49 years to her beloved husband, Fred Bright Jr., retired US Army JAG Colonel. She traveled the world as an Army wife, living in places such as Germany, Korea, Hawaii and Fort Campbell, before settling in Knoxville in 1986. She was a retired legal secretary for the US Army, the US Air Force, and Knoxville real estate agent.

Other survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Leslie Bright and Michael McGill, Karen Bright and Richard Pfost; son and daughter-in-law, James F. and Sarah Bright. She was beloved “Bocco” (grandmother) to Cody McGill, Grant, Spencer and Dawson Pfost, Mercedes and Haven Bright; sister-in-law, Doris Blankenship; niece, Andrea Blankenship Taylor; nephew, James Randall Blankenship; several great-nieces and great-nephews.

The family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Stevens Mortuary, Oglewood Avenue at North Broadway. A Celebration of Life will follow at 7 p.m. The family and friends will meet 9:45 a.m. Tuesday at Greenwood Cemetery for a graveside service and interment at 10 a.m.

Timothy Hardesty

HORSE CAVE — Timothy Lee ‘Biscuit’ Hardesty, 53, of Horse Cave, died Thursday, July 12, 2012, at T. J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow.

He was the son of Jessie “J.D.” Hardesty and Dorothy Dillion Hardesty of Horse Cave.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday, July 16, 2012, at Brooks Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Rowlett and Rev. K.T. Ford officiating. Interment will be at Woodsonville Memorial Gardens, Munfordville. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m., Sunday, July 15, and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, July 16, at the funeral home.



Mamie McIntyre

SUMMER SHADE — Mamie Birge McIntyre, 73, of Summer Shade, died Thursday, July 12, 2012, at U of L Hospital. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced at a later date by McMurtrey Funeral Home.



Kenneth Shirley

SHELBYVILLE — Kenneth Shirley, Sr., 63, formerly of Glasgow, died recently in Shelbyville. Arrangements are incomplete but under the direction of the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home.

 

Vera Webster

TAYLORSVILLE — Vera Mabel Webster, 86, of  Taylorsville, died Wednesday, July 11, 2012. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of J.C. Kirby & Son Funeral Home.
