Betty M. Akins
GLASGOW – Betty M. Akins, of Glasgow, died Saturday, July 14, 2012, at her residence, after a long and courageous battle with leukemia.
Born Oct. 30, 1937, in Metcalfe County, she was the daughter of the late Hermon and Maureen Lane Jewell. She was the widow of Waymon Akins, who preceded her in death in 2008. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include one daughter, Anita Meek and husband Joe, of Glasgow; one granddaughter, Amy Cantine and husband Matt, of White House, Tenn.; two brothers, Randell Jewell, of Center, and Bill Jewell (Ruth Ann), of Hardyville; six nieces and three nephews.
In addition to her parents and spouse, she was preceded in death by her parents-in-law, Roy and Ora Gibson Akins.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in Bowles Cemetery, near Center. Friends may call after 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society.

John Walter Beetem
BOWLING GREEN – John Walter Beetem, 78, of Bowling Green, died Monday, July 16, 2012, at Greenview Regional Hospital.
He was the son of the late John Morris Beetem and Thelma Elizabeth Sanders Beetem.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 18, at Mount Olivet Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

Alene Hutcherson Howard
TOMPKINSVILLE – Alene Hutcherson Howard, 68, of Tompkinsville, died Saturday, July 14, 2012, at Monroe County Medical Center.
Alene was born on July 17, 1943, a daughter of the late Clovie (Botts) and Tom Hutcherson.
She is survived by her husband, Glen Howard, of Tompkinsville.
Funeral services will be at Yokley-Trible Funeral Home, 2 p.m., on Wednesday, July 18, with Tim Eaton officiating.
Visitation will be Tuesday, noon until 9 p.m., and Wednesday 6 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery.
Darrell Wayne Kerney
GLASGOW – Darrell Wayne Kerney, 52, of Glasgow, died Sunday, July 15, 2012, at his residence.
A son of the late Willie Lee and Delcie Wilcox Kerney, he was a construction worker and a member of First Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Tiffany Lynn Kerney; one stepson, Joshua Craig Whitlow; two grandchildren, Madison Brooke Jessie and Austin Lee Jessie; two sisters, Fanny Basil (Gene) and Patty Lane (J.C.); one brother, Gary Kerney (Bonnie); and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Terry Kerney and Jerry Kerney, and two sisters, Violet Gillentine and Gloria Pitcock.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, July 19, at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home, with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Friends may call after 5 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Brady Isaac Leckie
EVANSTON, Wyo. – Our dearly beloved Brady Isaac Leckie, 31, of Evanston, Wyo., rejoined his heavenly father July 12, 2012, after sustaining injuries in an automobile accident on July 1, 2012.
He was born on Sept. 7, 1980 in Evanston, Wyo., being the first of four boys to be blessed to his parents Terry and Lucinda Leckie.
Brady graduated from Evanston High School in 1998 and later moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, to earn a degree from the Utah School of Massage Therapy and then returned to Evanston. He married Aleisa Keesling on September 8, 2001. Two children were blessed to this union: Jaylon Moses and Ashlyn Love Leckie. Brady and Aleisa were later separated. He was again blessed with a third child: Izayha Terrence Leckie. Brady was then married to Samantha Stilts on April 21, 2012. Samantha is very caring with the children and loves them dearly. She also loves Brady very much and was always there for him.
His three children were his pride and joy. He loved being a father, enjoying every day with his kids, watching them grow, and supporting them in all their activities both in and outside of school. Brady was a hard worker and was always there for his family. He was an avid sports fan and he loved playing basketball, soccer, and volleyball with family and friends. He also enjoyed camping with his family. Brady had a very playful personality and loved making people laugh and have fun. He was a loving husband, father, brother, and son. He was loved by many.
Brady is survived by his wife, Samantha; his parents, Terry and Lucinda; his grandmother, Stella Leckie; his three children, Jaylon Moses (11), Ashlyn Love (8), and Izayha Terrence (5), all of Evanston; his three brothers, Bret and Levi, both of Logan, Utah, and Jemini, of Evanston; and many other relatives.
He is preceded in death by his grandfathers, Moses Gilbert Gomez and George Murdoch Leckie; his grandmother, Sondra Lou Hoffman Gomez; and his cousin, Thomas Abrian Kilgore.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 18, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 632 Twin Ridge Avenue, Evanston, Wyoming. A viewing will be held the evening before on Tuesday, July 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Crandall Funeral Home.
Interment will be in the Evanston City Cemetery.

Howard Kenneth Massey
BOWLING GREEN – Howard Kenneth Massey, 77, of Bowling Green, died Sunday, July 15, 2012, at Morgantown Care & Rehab.
He was the son of the late Hazel Thelma Cowles Massey.
He is survived by his former wife, Christine Massey.
Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, July 19, at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel. Burial will be in Kinser Cemetery.

MUNFORDVILLE – Linda Lou Smith, 64, of Munfordville, died Monday, July 16, 2012, at the Caverna Memorial Hospital emergency room.
She was the daughter of the late Ernest Montgomery and Tressie Moore Montgomery.
Funeral services for Linda Lou Smith will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, in the chapel of Sego Funeral Home, with burial in Pearl Webb Cemetery. Visitation will be after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
