GLASGOW — Brenda Kay Blair Crain

HORSE CAVE – On Oct. 29, 2012, Brenda Kay Blair Crain won her long, brave battle with breast cancer and graduated into the presence of her heavenly Father.

She was a Kentucky Colonel, a licensing clerk for the City of Horse Cave, a longtime accountant, wife, mother, grandmother, member of Coral Hill Baptist Church and Miss Brenda to a generation of children who she taught in Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She was and is beloved by everyone who knew her.

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Veda Mae Blair and Albro T. Blair, of Cave City; two sisters, Margaret Ann Huff, of Munfordville, and Peggy Sue Spann, of Cave City; three brothers, Taylor Blair, Bobby Wayne Blair and Joe Louis Blair.

She will be sorely missed by her husband, Danny P. Crain, of Horse Cave; her son and daughter-in-law, Philip Ray Crain and Emily Boston Crain, of Lexington; grandson, and reason to keep fighting, Beckham Reed Crain, of Lexington. She also is survived by four sisters, Edith Poynter, of Cave City, Betsy Waddell, of Cave City, Joyce McCubbin, and husband Thomas McCubbin, of Munfordville and Teresa Owens, and husband Steve Owens, of Cave City; her brother-in-law, Greg Spann, and wife Renee Spann, and their son, her nephew, Justin Spann, of Cave City, along with a large number of additional nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles to four generations and countless friends.

Funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, in the chapel of Winn Funeral Home with burial in Cave City Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4 until 9 p.m. Thursday and after 9 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Winn Funeral Home.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to Gideons International or American Bible Society in her name to share her love of Christ with the world.



Corine H. Holder

AUSTIN – Corine H. Holder, 90, of Austin, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012, at NHC Healthcare in Glasgow.

Her arrangements are incomplete, but are under the direction of A.F. Crow and Son Funeral Home.

Dr. Bogdan R. Marcol

GLASGOW – Dr. Bogdan R. Marcol, 53, of Glasgow, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012, at his home.

His arrangements are incomplete, but are under the direction of A.F. Crow and Son Funeral Home.



Luther Freeman Spivey

GAMALIEL – Luther Freeman Spivey, 99, of Gamaliel, passed away Monday, Oct. 29, 2012, at the Monroe County Medical Center in Tompkinsville.

He was born March 1, 1919, in Jackson County, Tenn., to the late Dillard Spivey and Sarah Painter Spivey. He was a retired farmer, a member of Clementsville Church of Christ and a World War II Army veteran. He was united in marriage on Dec. 20, 1936, to Hester Kendall Spivey, who preceded him in death on Aug. 25, 2012.

He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Ruth Spivey, of Gamaliel, and Kenneth and Delores Spivey, of Brenham, Texas; one brother, Arnold Spivey, of Whitleyville, Tenn.; one sister, Ella Glover, of Hartville, Ohio; and five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, Guy Spivey, and one sister, Zella Clark.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, at 2 p.m., at Strode’s Gamaliel Chapel in Gamaliel with burial to follow in Gamaliel Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Strode’s Gamaliel Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Clementsville Church of Christ or the Gamaliel Cemetery.
