GLASGOW — Marie D. Buckner

CANMER – Marie D. Buckner, 96, of Canmer, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at Hart County Health Care Center in Horse Cave.

She was the daughter of the late George Robert Suddles Dangerfield and the late Mary Alice McFelea Dangerfield. She was the wife of the late William O. Buckner.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at Brooks Funeral home. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with Brother Nolan Hensley and Brother Barry Locke officiating. Interment will be at Pearl Webb Cemetery, in Canmer.



Robert Coats

JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. – Robert Coats, 59, of Jeffersonville, Ind., passed away Dec. 17, at his home.  

He was a native of Glasgow. Robert worked most of his life as a welder at Trailer World in Bowling Green and spent most of his free time in the last few years as a volunteer at Wayside Christian Mission in Louisville. He was led to helping the homeless and people with addictions.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ellis Coats; his mother, Katherine Coats; and sister, Sharon Harlow.

Robert is survived by one son, Brandon Childress, of Cave City; one granddaughter, Charlotte Childress, of Cave City; one brother, Mark Ellis Coats, of Cave City; one uncle, Jess Goodhue, of Louisville; three nephews, Travis and Nick Coats, both of Cave City, and Corrie Harlow, of Hardyville.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Sego Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be after noon Saturday at the funeral home.



Clydean F. Dickerson

GLASGOW – Clydean F. Dickerson, 93, Glasgow, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at Barren County Health Care Center.

A native of Jefferson County, she was a daughter of the late Waller Wesley Patterson and Annie Lois Houchens Patterson. She was a retired seamstress at Handmacher Fashions and a member of Glasgow Baptist Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Roberta Hawkins, of Glasgow; three grandchildren, Tina Brown (Jerry McCoy), Beth Ryan (Mark), and Brad Rutledge (Gina); two step-grandsons, H.C. Hawkins and Danny Hawkins; one sister, Evelyn Lyons; three great-grandsons, Ben Brown (Shannan), Tyler Brown (Bekka), and Austin Rutledge; three great-granddaughters, Jessica Brown, Heather Ryan Sexton (Robby), and Elizabeth Oglesby; three great-great grandsons, Connor Brown, Jakob Brown, and Jude Sexton; one great-great granddaughter, Lily Brown; two nieces, Marilyn Gold and Carolyn Oliver; one nephew, Jimmy Lyons; son-in-law, Mac Rutledge (Hazel); former grandson-in-law, Keith Brown; along with numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Jewell Dickerson; one daughter, Gloria Ann Rutledge; one great-granddaughter, Erin Taylor Brown; and one sister, Kathryn Lockhart Jackson.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home, with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Alternate expressions of sympathy may be donations to the American Cancer Society.

Ret. CWO2 Ronald Eugene Mortimer

GLASGOW – Ret. CWO2 Ronald Eugene Mortimer, 75, of Glasgow, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital.

He was born Aug. 26, 1937, in Kane, Pa., the son of the late Sgt. Maj. George and Ruth Mortimer. He married his high school sweetheart, Margaret Morgan and they celebrated 54 years of marriage in December.

After high school Ronald joined the Army in 1954 and served for 21 years. He served in the Vietnam War as a helicopter pilot and was the recipient of many awards including Air Medal-25, Army Aviator Badge, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with Silver Service Star, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He retired in 1975, achieving the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 2nd Class. After retirement Mr. Mortimer continued his flying career here in Glasgow for Southern Explosives. Later he retired from Wininger Oil Company. He was an avid member of the YMCA.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret; his son, Jimmy (Beverly) Mortimer; his daughter, Kellie (Kevin) Patterson, all of Glasgow; brothers, Lance Mortimer, of Virginia and Ted Mortimer, of New York; his grandchildren, Jimmy Ray Mortimer II, of New York, N.Y., Quinn Patterson, of Glasgow, Allison (Andy) Mello, of Brownsville and Adam (LeAnn) Brown, of Bowling Green; great-grandchildren, Gavin and Shelby Brown and several other relatives.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will be in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 3 until 8 p.m. and Monday morning until time for the service.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society.

OAKLAND – Daniel Lee Story, 67, of Oakland, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at Greenview Regional Hospital. A celebration of life will be Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel.
