GLASGOW — Chastiey Abston

GLASGOW – Chastiey Abston, 40, of Glasgow, died Feb. 5, 2013, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time, but are under the direction of A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home.



Brother Dexter Bacon Jr.

GLASGOW – Brother Dexter Bacon Jr., 82, of Glasgow, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, after a brief illness.

He was the son of the late Dexter and Helen Miller Bacon. He was a member of Dover Missionary Baptist Church at Etoile and a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U. S. Army.

Brother Bacon was a pastor for 53 years at Union #2, Summer Shade, Bethel Baptist in Indianapolis and Dover at Etoile, all Missionary Baptist churches. He also served as a missionary in Japan for four years. He was a member of the H.B. Grant Masonic Lodge #610 at Etoile, the Etoile Eastern Star #522 and a former board member of the Old Fashion Gospel Hour. Brother Bacon will be truly missed by his church families who loved him dearly.

Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Shirley Morrison Bacon; two sons, David Madison Bacon (Sandy), of Keizer, Ore., and Dan Richard Bacon (Sharon) of Prospect; a sister, Betty Bowman (Evans), of Temple Hill; a brother, Joe Donald Bacon (Donnie), of Eighty Eight; four grandchildren, Katie Bacon, Alexa Bacon, Layne Bacon and Seth Bacon; a nephew, Gerry Bowman (Becky); a niece, Melanie Jones (Larry); a brother-in-law, C.G. Morrison (Marcella); and a sister-in-law, Jocille Wright (Eddie).

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery with military honors provided by DAV Chapter #20 of Glasgow. Visitation will be Wednesday after 5 pm, Thursday 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. and Friday morning until time for the service.



Barry David Blythe

EDMONTON – Barry David Blythe,  44, of Edmonton, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, at his home.  

He was the son of the late Barry Mac Blythe and Eva June Shewmaker Shultz.

He is survived by his mother, Eva June Shewmaker Shultz, of Georgetown, Ind.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with burial in Missionary Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be after 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.



Dora A. Carby

ELIZABETHTOWN – Dora A. Carby, 95, of Elizabethtown, formerly of Hart County, died Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at Elizabethtown Nursing Rehab in Elizabethtown.  

She was the daughter of the late Asa Fields and the late Fannie Priddy Fields. She was the wife of the late Maurice Carby.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 8 p.m.  Wednesday at Brooks Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church. Funeral service will be at the church at 1 p.m. Thursday with Brother Clifford Ward and Brother Carlon Fields officiating. Interment will be at Pleasant Hill Church Cemetery, Upton.



Violet E. ‘Bonnie’ Morgan

GLASGOW – Violet E. “Bonnie” Morgan, 85, of Glasgow, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital.

She was the daughter of the late Otha and Elizabeth Carver Perkins. She was of the Church of Christ faith.

She is survived by her daughter, Sheila Rhoton and her husband Eddie; two stepdaughters, Mary Christensen and her husband Bob, and Joyce Underwood and her husband Frank; two granddaughters, Misty Bragg and her husband Michael, and Amanda Harris and her husband Drew; three great-grandchildren, Andrew Bragg, Allison Bragg and Mason Bragg; two brothers, Jerry Perkins and Roy Perkins; two sisters, Virginia Maxine Glass and Loretta Reynolds. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Timothy Stilts; three husbands, Malon “Doc” Stilts, James Glass and Donald Morgan; two brothers, Thomas Perkins and Eugene Perkins; five sisters, Mary Aline, Nancy Croft, Perna Burgess, Evelyn Glass and Lois Bunch.

Funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in Boles Cemetery. Visitation is in progress at the funeral home.

HORSE CAVE – James David “Jimmy” Hampton, 46, of Horse Cave, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, at his residence. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Patton Funeral Home, Park City Chapel. The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with burial in Evergreen Cemetery.



BOWLING GREEN – Flora Belle Walbert Thompson, 84, of Bowling Green, died Saturday Feb. 2, 2013, at The Medical Center at Bowling Green. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be on Wednesday from noon until time for services.
