Ruby Ford
TOMPKINSVILLE — Ruby Mae Jones Ford, 90, of Tompkinsville, died Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at Monroe County Medical Center in Tompkinsville.
She was the wife of the late John T. Ford and daughter of the late Hughie Jones and Bessie Turner Jones.
Funeral service will be Thursday, June 28, at 3 p.m. at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville with burial in Neal Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the Neal Cemetery.
Junior Lair
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. — Junior Clay (J.R.) Lair, 69, of Cookeville, Tenn., died Monday, June 25, 2012, at his home.
Born in Metcalfe County, an Army veteran, he was the son of the late Dallas Clay and Laura Mae Jessie Lair.
He is survived by one son, Curtis (Serena) Lair, of Cookeville, Tenn.; two daughters, Stacey (Jason) Pickett, of Missouri, Kimberly Lair and fiancé Jason Parker, of Cookeville; six grandchildren, Cody, Chandler, Patrick, Chelsea, Paige and Nina; one brother, Floyd (Kathy) Lair, of Edmonton; one sister, Janice Sue Jennings, of Edmonton; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Helen Marie Forrest, and brother-in-law Carlos Jennings.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Christine Ryherd
Christine M. Eakle Ryherd, 93, of Gamaliel, passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at NHC Healthcare in Glasgow.
She was born Oct. 4, 1918, in Monroe County to the late Quintice Eakle and Belle McPeak Eakle. She was a homemaker and a member of the Gamaliel Baptist Church. She was the widow of Johnny Clyde Ryherd, who died Jan. 12, 2011.
She is survived by four daughters and three sons-in-law, Carolyn and Bruce Dillard, of Akersville, Brenda Wright, of Sulpher Lick, Wanda and James Goad, of Rydal, Ga., Ruthie and Frank Duckett, of Glasgow; 11 grandchildren, Tracy Dillard, Brian, Johnny and Kerry Turner, Bob and Matt Briney, Mason Wright, Kendra Dillard Templeton, Melinda Wright McNew, Melanie Wright Tooley and Christy Turner Flatt, and 20 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Roy David Ryherd; five brothers, Fred, Coy, Benton, Bud and Dewey Eakle; and three sisters, Alta Burgess, Pearl Biles and Jewel Sanspree.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, June 28, at 11 a.m. at Strode’s Gamaliel Chapel in Gamaliel with burial to follow in Gamaliel Cemetery. Visitation will be after 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the chapel.
Memorials are suggested to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library or St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
Patsy Shipp
HARDYVILLE — Patsy Shipp, 50, of Hardyville, died Monday, June 25, 2012, at The Medical Center in Bowling Green.
She was a daughter of the late Milby and Mary Frances Logsdon Sexton.
She is survived by her husband, Robin Shipp.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Thursday, in the chapel of Sego Funeral Home with Brother Terry Shelton officiating. Burial will be in Pikeview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:30 until 9 p.m. Wednesday and after 8 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Howard Wright
AUSTIN — Howard Lesley Wright, 92, of Austin, died Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow.
He was born Wednesday, April 28, 1920, in Todd County and was the son of the late Wallace Wright and the late Daisy Grisham Wright. He was the husband of Josephine Eddings Wright who survives.
A funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Price Funeral Home, Inc. located at 252 E. Green St., Lewisburg, with the Rev. Larry Chapman and Rev. Gary Chapman officiating. Interment will be in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery, Lewisburg.
The family will receive friends after 5 p.m. Thursday, June 28, at the funeral home.
Regina Wood
GLASGOW — Regina Mary Magdalene Wood, 71, of Glasgow, died Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at T. J. Samson Community Hospital.
Born in Glasgow, she was the daughter of the late Harry Davidson and Sallie Allen Woodard and stepfather Les Woodard. On May 21, 1955, Regina was married to the late Dallies L. Wood. Mrs. Wood was a member of Pleasant Union Baptist Church in the Coral Hill community where she served faithful as a Sunday School teacher, missionary and in hospitality.
Survivors include three daughters, Sally C. Hayes, Gwendolyn M. Wood and Tina D. Wood, all of Glasgow; four sons, Louis L. Wood (Celia), Aldwin O. Wood (Patricia), Ricky L. Wood (Brenda) and Dallies E. Wood (Dorothy), all of Glasgow; 25 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Delmer Wood (Ernestine), of Cave City; Aunt Gustava Tudor of Indianapolis, Ind.; Uncle Theodore Ellis, of Glasgow; mother-in-law, Dorothy Wood, of Texas; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Helen Ferguson Wood.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, June 29, at A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Wood Family Cemetery at Savoyard. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
