GLASGOW — Roy Hartzell Branstetter

EDMONTON – Roy Hartzell Branstetter, 89, of Edmonton, died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, at NHC in Glasgow.

He was the son of the late Willie Green and Bertha Payne Branstetter. He operated Edmonton Farm Supply for many years in Edmonton. He was a member of South Edmonton Church of Christ.   

He is survived by two children, Fowler, and wife Katie Branstetter, of Edmonton, and Frances, and husband Barry Edwards, of Glasgow; two sisters, Opal Howard, of Lexington, and Christine Pierce, of Louisville; four grandchildren, Stacy (Greg) Smith, of Glasgow, Emily (Kevin) Hartmann, of Illinois, Andrea Branstetter, of Lexington, and Kevin Branstetter, of Cary, N.C.; four great-grandchildren, Barrett Smith, Lauren Robison, Braden Hartmann and Conner Hartmann.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby; four brothers and two sisters, Raymond, Paul, Wallace and Edward Branstetter, and Elsie Hodges and Nelda Norris; and a daughter-in-law, Joan Gibson Branstetter.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with burial in Summer Shade Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.



Roy Hatcher Fisher

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.– Roy Hatcher Fisher, 88, of Indianapolis, Ind., died Nov. 4, 2012, at Community Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Indianapolis, Ind.

He was born Oct. 31, 1924, at Mount Hermon, Ky., a son of Ewell Fisher and Verda (Lyons) Fisher. On June 9, 1956, he married Selma Jean (Leep) Fisher. He attended Lyons Grade School, Temple Hill High School and Western Trade School, in Bowling Green.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, in the Asiatic Pacific Theater (New Guinea), Control Station Operator (Searchlights), receiving the Good Conduct Ribbon, Victory Medal and Bronze Star.

He was an automobile mechanic with Johnson Chevrolet, later named Circle City Chevrolet and Payton Wells Chevrolet. He was a former member of Bethany Wesleyan Church in Indianapolis.

He is survived by his wife, Selma (Leep) Fisher, of Indianapolis; two daughters, Carolyn Lucille (Jesse Wayne) Jeffries, and Luanne (Charles) Fairchild; grandchildren, Jacob Jeffries, Amanda Jeffries, Chase Fairchild, Nathan (Chelsea) Jeffries, Zachary Fairchild, Nicholas Fairchild, and Ethan Fairchild; great-grandson, Harper Jeffries, and nephew Robbie (Kasey) Fisher, Smiths Grove.

He was predeceased by his parents, Ewell and Verda (Lyons) Fisher, and siblings, Eloise Barlow, Earl Lee Fisher and Harold Garnett Fisher.

Funeral services will be Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at 10 a.m., at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Home, Washington Park East, 10722 East Washington St., Indianapolis, Ind. Visitation will be Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, with burial in Washington Park East Cemetery.

Brother Alvin Edward Herron

PARK CITY – Brother Alvin Edward Herron, 99, of Park City, died Nov. 5, 2012. He was ready to go home to meet his God, and to his beloved wife of 68 years, Beatrice Doyle Herron.

Brother Herron was a Methodist minister in the Louisville Conference of Kentucky from 1946, until his retirement in 1964. The locations where Brother Herron had pastoral charges are as follows: Stephenport, Cub Run, Allen County, Hiseville, Clarkson, Franklin, Bowling Green, Bethel Chapel in Warren County and Grand Rivers, Kentucky.

When Brother and Mrs. Herron retired from the ministry, they moved back to their childhood memories at Park City, Barren County, Ky., where they were residents until their death.

During Brother Herron’s many years of retirement, he continued to preach in revivals and speak when and where he was requested to do so.

Brother Herron was a member of the Methodist Church in Park City and was a 32nd-degree master mason with Park City Masonic Lodge #934 F&AM.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Stanton and Violet Rutherford Herron; his beloved wife, Beatrice Doyle Herron; a daughter, Gloria Jean Herron; a son, Joseph Marshall Herron; a brother, Joseph Stanton “Bill” Herron; four sisters, Josey Cutliff, Mable Archery, Norine Keith and Edith Mae Alexander.

He is survived by a sister, Virginia McCoy; three sons, Alan Herron (Joyce), Jerry Herron (Pat), Carson Jake Herron (Julena Gay); one daughter Elizabeth Herron Bruner (Lee); a daughter-in-law, Shirlean Herron, wife of son Joe; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation is 12:30 until 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at Park City United Methodist Church. The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at the church, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery.

Patton Funeral Home, Park City Chapel, is in charge of the arrangements.

Carroll ‘Mack’ Kennedy

CADIZ, Ky. – Carroll “Mack” Kennedy, 82, of Cadiz, died at 4:40 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012, at his residence, of natural causes.

He was born in Trigg County, Ky. on Sunday, May 11, 1930, the son of Durwood Belmont and Clarice Henderson Kennedy (both deceased). Mr. Kennedy was a member of Hurricane Baptist Church where he was a former Sunday School teacher and served as song leader for over 30 years. He was a U.S. Marine veteran serving in the Korean Conflict. He retired as a steel mill worker with 39 years of service.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Jean Litchfield Kennedy, of Cadiz; one son, Dwight Kennedy, of Cadiz; one daughter, Belinda Baars, of Glasgow, one sister, Edna Terrell, of Cadiz; two brothers, James “Rod” Kennedy, of Cadiz, and Kenneth Kennedy, of Cadiz; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Durwood Belmont and Clarice Henderson Kennedy; a daughter, Kathy Birdsong; a sister, Hettie Maria Roth; six brothers, Audrey Gene Kennedy, David Kennedy, Carloss Kennedy, Lucian Kennedy, Wade Kennedy, and Robert Louis “Bob” Kennedy; a grandchild, Sarah Lynne Kennedy and a great-grandchild, Sarah Elizabeth Turner.

Funeral services will be held at Goodwin Funeral Home, in Cadiz, Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at 1 p.m. with Minister Reverend Mike Wimberly officiating. Burial will be at Hurricane Baptist Church Cemetery in Trigg County, Ky.

Visitation will be held at Goodwin Funeral Home in Cadiz, Ky. after 4 p.m. Wednesday Nov. 7, 2012.
