GLASGOW — Herbert Bratcher

HORSE CAVE — Herbert Bratcher, 87, of Horse Cave, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011, at Caverna Memorial Hospital. The Hart County native was the son of the late Lee Bratcher, Sr. and Roberta Brown Bratcher.

Mr. Bratcher was a retired farmer and worked for the Horse Cave Tobacco Warehouse No. 2 for 54 years. He was a member of the Lonoke Baptist Church and a WWII veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Mr. Bratcher served as board member for the Hart County Soil Conservation Service for 40 years, where he also served as treasurer. He served on the board of directors for Southern States for approximately 30 years and served on the Hart County Public Library Board for 20 years.

He is survived by a son, Leroy Bratcher and wife, Charlotte, of Campbellsville; a daughter, Joyce Bilyeu and husband, David, of Russellville, a brother, Lee Bratcher Jr. and wife, Betty, of Horse Cave; a sister, Barbara Buckner of Munfordville, six grandchildren, Eric Bilyeu, Brian Bilyeu, Tracey Heredia, Todd Bratcher, Wesley Bratcher and Lee Anny Coy; three step-grandchildren, Amanda Brown, Amy South and Andrea Brown; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Sunday at Lonoke Baptist Church with Brother Chuck Templeman officiating. Burial will be in the Munfordville Municipal Cemetery. Visitation is Sunday from 9 a.m. to noon at Sego Funeral Home.

Expressions of Sympathy may take the form of donations to the Lonoke Baptist Church Building Fund, donations may be made at the funeral home.

Linda Stinson Delk

ROCKY HILL — Linda Stinson Delk, 59, of Rocky Hill, died Friday, Jan. 28, 2011 at her residence.

The Clinton County native was the daughter of the late Willie Arthur Stinson and Ethel Mae Forester Stinson and the wife of the late Charles “Bruce” Delk. She was a homemaker and member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Tommy Stinson and five sisters, Annie Adair, Willie King, Flonnie Bertram, Dottie Hogan and Hazel Hughes.

Survivors include a daughter, Leslie Sturdivant (Doug) of Smiths Grove; three sons, Van Delk (Kay) of Horse Cave, Terry Delk of Rocky Hill and Ben Delk (Amber) of Rocky Hill; four grandchildren, Georgia Crabtree of Smiths Grove, Betty Fitzgerald (Delmer) of Birdstown, Tenn., Bonnie Johnson of Glasgow, and Kathy Hogan of Park City.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2011 at Patton Funeral Home Park City Chapel with burial in Rocky Hill Cemetery. Visitation is from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and 0 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Wanda ‘Dean’ Loney

GREENVILLE — Wanda Aileen Loney, 69, of Greenville, died Friday, Jan. 28, 2011 in her home under care of Hospice.

She was the daughter of the late Hubert and Maudie Joines and the wife of Lloyd E. Loney who survives.

Funeral services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial will be a Joines Chapel Cemetery in Greenville. Visitation is after 9 a.m. Sunday until time of funeral at the funeral home.



James ‘Jim’ Matthews

SELLERSBURG, Ind. — James “Jim” Matthews, 79, died Friday, Jan. 28, 2011 at Clark County Memorial Hospital, Jeffersonville, Indiana.

He was the son of the late Arlie and Ethel Walker Matthews, born in Barren County. He is survived by his wife the former Ruth Coleen Capps.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Garr Funeral Home. Visitation will be Sunday from noon to 8 p.m.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Tri County Shrine Club or Hospice of Southern Indiana.



Robert Lee McLeary

MOGADORE, Ohio — Robert Lee McLeary, 78, of Mogadore, Ohio, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2011 in Ohio.

He was born in Fairmont, W. Va., on Feb. 11, 1932 to the late James McLeary and Mary Catherine Bucie McLeary. He was a retired electrical engineer for Ohio Edison, a member of the American Legion and a veteran of the Korean War. He was united in marriage on June 9, 1956 to Shirley Wilson.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Wilson McLeary, of Mogadore, Ohio; three sons, James McLeary, Michael McLeary, of Lafayette, Tenn. and Robert McLeary of Mogadore, Ohio; three daughters, Mary Long of Akron, Ohio, Patricia Curtician, of Mogadore and Sherri Lyn Long of Mogadore; two brothers, James McLeary of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio and Thomas McLeary of Lakeland, Ohio; eight grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia McLeary.

Funeral services were Saturday at Strode Funeral Home’s Gamaliel Chapel with burial in the Rocky Hill Cemetery. Military rites were performed graveside by DAV Chapter 20 of Glasgow.

Memorials are suggested to the Rocky Hill Cemetery.

Ralph Depp Shipley

GLASGOW — Ralph Depp Shipley, 80, of Glasgow died Thursday, Jan. 27 at his home. He was born in Barren County the son of the late Haskell Shipley and Mary Kathryn Chenoweth Boles. Mr. Shipley was retired from the South Central Rural Telephone Cooperative.

 He is survived by his wife Gloria Jones Shipley; 2 sons Cliff Shipley (Debra) of Lebanon, TN and Phillip Craig Shipley of Glasgow; 2 daughters Connie Garmon (Eddie) of Lakeland, FL and Carla Deckard (Timmy) of Glasgow; 5 grandchildren Kelsey Deckard, Jonathan Shipley, and Andy, Stephanie and Alex Garmon; 2 great-grandchildren; a half sister Dixie Renfro (Joe) of Glasgow and a half sister-in-law Kaye Shipley of Glasgow.  He was preceded in death by a half brother, Harold David Shipley.

 Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 30, 2011 at A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation was Saturday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Sunday morning until time for the service.



Mary Maxine Vance

GLASGOW — Mary Maxine Vance, 82, of Glasgow died Friday, Jan. 28 at the NHC Healthcare Facility in Glasgow. She was born in Summer Shade the daughter of the late Fred Rouse and Mae Whitlow Bailey. Mrs. Vance was a former Handmacher employee and was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church.

 She is survived by 2 sons; James Vance (Terri) of Charleston, SC and John Vance (Anita) of Glasgow; 1 daughter Brenda Alexander (Eddie) of Glasgow; 2 sisters Joyce Hood (Haskel) of Bowling Green and Emma Sharp of Glasgow; 11 grandchildren, Jeaneen Williams (Brandon), Schelly Vance, Terry Alexander, Beth Payne (Allen), Angela McGee (Doug), Cory Alexander (Kennesha), Shane Vance (Stacey), Brandon Vance (Amanda), Johnny Vance (Laura), Tonya Vincent (Matt) and Drew Saltsman (Tiffany) and 14 great-grandchildren.

 In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William Vance; a daughter Faye Neely; a grandson Mikey Cox; a sister Mildred Thomas and two brothers Mitchell and Marshall Rouse.

 Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 31, 2011 at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the White Cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon Sunday.
