Nell Dennison Trowbridge

HORSE CAVE — Nell Dennison Trowbridge, 63, a lifelong resident of Horse Cave, lost a short but courageous battle with cancer on Jan. 20, 2010. However, she actually gained the victory because of her faith in Jesus Christ when she was welcomed home by her Savior early Wednesday morning.

She was a believer, a wife, a mother, a sister, an aunt and a friend to many.

After giving her life to Christ as a young girl, Nell was baptized and became an active member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church on Jan. 3, 1982. From teaching Vacation Bible School and the preschool Sunday School class for years to coaching the Children's Bible Drill, her love for children and the church was evident.

She was a gifted storyteller and loved sharing stories and treasures through photography, cross-stitch and scrapbooking.

Before becoming ill, Nell worked as the secretary for Lawler Real Estate and Auction Company since 1991. She was also an Avon representative for more than 26 years.

She is survived by her husband, William H. Trowbridge of Horse Cave; her only child, Kevin S. Trowbridge and his wife Robyn, of Cleveland, Tenn.; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Paul and Kathy Dennison and Gary and Eva Dennison, all of Horse Cave; as well as nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Alma Thompson Dennison.

Visitation will take place Thursday, Jan. 21, at Winn Funeral Home in Horse Cave from 4 to 8 p.m.

A funeral service will be held Friday, Jan. 22, 2010, at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Winn Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Horse Cave Municipal Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to make a contribution in Nell's memory to the Relay for Life Tractor Drive benefiting the American Cancer Society. Nell served as the official photographer since the drive's inception in 2005.
