James Edwin Bradshaw

BURKESVILLE — James Edwin Bradshaw, 90, a resident of Cumberland Valley Manor, Burkesville (formerly of the Marrowbone Community) passed away on Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010, at Cumberland County Hospital.

He was born on Oct. 11, 1919, in Cumberland County, to the late Charlie Cobb and Lalla Thomas Bradshaw. He was a member of Marrowbone United Methodist Church, a veteran of World War II, and a longtime businessman, farmer and community activist.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph Bradshaw and Raymond Bradshaw.

Survivors include his wife, Dana Garrett Bradshaw of Burkesville; two daughters: Brenda Schissler and husband Wesley of Crestwood, and Glenda Bradshaw of Louisville; two grandchildren: Debbie Huddleston and Stuart Huddleston; two sisters-in-law: Pauline Workman and Barbara Bradshaw, both of Marrowbone; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home in Burkesville with burial in Marrowbone Cemetery with military rites.



Edith Irene Brewster

EDMONTON — Edith Irene Brewster, 78, died Monday, Feb. 8, 2010, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital.

She was a daughter of the late Camel and Belle Wright Ooten and wife of Willard (Bill) Brewster, who survives.

Visitation will be Thursday, Feb. 11, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at McMurtrey Funeral Home, Summer Shade, with commital at Happy Valley Memorial Gardens at 2 p.m. Thursday.



William Darrel Jackson

TOMPKINSVILLE — William Darrel Jackson, 64, died Monday, Feb. 8, 2010, at the Monroe County Medical Center.

Arrangements are incomplete, to be announced later by McMurtrey Funeral Home.



Randall L. Haynes

BOWLING GREEN — Randall L. Haynes, 50, died Monday, Feb. 8, 2010, in Bowling Green.

He was born in Glasgow on Feb. 20, 1959, the son of Flossie Haynes, of Bowling Green, and the late Veachel Haynes. He was a member of Lehman Avenue Church of Christ. He is loved by many and he loved children and cats.

In addition to his mother, survivors include six sisters: Margaret Varney and husband Gary of Franklin, Glenda Cosby and husband Danny of Bowling Green, Julie London and husband Danny of Edmonton, Gloria Strain and husband Martin of Orlando, Fla., Betty Robinson and husband Mike of Virginia Beach, Va., and Teresa Parker and husband Steve of Owosso, Mich.; two brothers: Eddie Haynes and wife Francis of Corunna, Mich., and Robert Haynes and wife Lisa of Bowling Green; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a twin brother, Richard Haynes, and a brother, William Haynes.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, at J.C. Kirby & Son Funeral Chapels, Inc., Lovers Lane Chapel, Bowling Green, with burial in Henderson Cemetery in Barren County. Visitation will be 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, at the funeral home.

Noel Fendell Page

SUMMER SHADE— Noel Fendell Page, 67, died Monday, Feb. 8, 2010, at the Hospice Center of Southern Kentucky in Bowling Green.

He was the son of the late O.C. (Otha Clinard) Page and Edith Jones Bartley Page, of Summer Shade, who survives.

He was born in Monroe County on June 2, 1942, and was retired from SKF and a farmer.

Other survivors include two sons: Mark Steven Page and Timmy Noel Page; and a brother: Aaron Page of Newport News, Va., five sisters: Imogene Billingsley of Summer Shade, Vernell Ballard of Tompkinsville, Elizabeth Grissom of Gamaliel, Angelan Baskett of Summer Shade, and Wila Crawford of Tompkinsville; two grandchildren: Landon Page and Savanna Page.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, at Yokley-Trible Funeral Home, with Brother Jason Page officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation is from 5 until 9 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Center of Southern Kentucky or American Cancer Society.



Stanley Ramsey

GLASGOW — Stanley Ramsey, 75, died Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010, at his residence.

A native of Barren County, he was a son of the late Herman S. and Mary Erlene Smith Ramsey. He was a self-employed entrepreneur, a member of Glasgow Separate Baptist Church, a member of Rio Verde Masonic Lodge at Canmer, and a U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Joan; two sons: Joe Altman and wife, Terri, of Lexington, and Tearle Ramsey and wife, Kay, of Glasgow; one daughter: Tamara Spence and husband, Jim, of Glasgow; eight grandchildren: Mark Allen Jones and fiancée, Melissa Pardue, Rebecca Stearns and husband, Bobby, Sarah Cook and husband, Dave, Brianna Ramsey, Caitlin Ramsey, Marichen Lehman, Brent Alan Altman and wife, Becky, and Matthew Jacob Altman; five great-grandchildren: Morgan Rae Jones, Gavin Jones, Spencer Jones, Katlin Newby and Jackson Stearns; one brother: Yandell Ramsey and wife, Mary Lou, of Park City; one sister: Rachel Baise and husband, Joe, of Glasgow; two nieces: Lisa Polson Scott and husband, Mike, and Carmen Gentile and husband, Jesse; and one nephew: Dean Allen Baise.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Timothy Altman; one brother, Roy Ramsey; and one sister, Anna Grace Polson.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Friends may call after 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Dr. Cordell Riley

GLASGOW — Dr. Cordell Riley, 79, died Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital.

Born in Barren County, he was the son of the late Stanley Riley Sr. and Louise Royal Riley and husband of the late Vanara Belle Dunham.

He was a Korean War veteran, having served in the United States Navy. Dr. Riley was a 1958 graduate of Western Kentucky University, a 1962 graduate of University of Louisville College of Dentistry and a 1966 graduate of M.D. Anderson Cancer Institute’s Department of Maxillo Facial Prosthesis. Dr. Riley then practiced in California at UCLA and in his own private practice before returning to Glasgow 10 years ago.

Survivors include a daughter: Dr. Lara Riley Brown of Seattle, Wash.; a granddaughter: Emily Riley of Portland, Ore.; five brothers: Leo Riley of Abilene, Texas, Wayne Riley of Bowling Green, Perry Riley of Bowling Green, John D. Riley of Louisville and Stanley Riley Jr. of Shelbyville; several nieces and nephews also survive.

There will be visitation on Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2010, from 3 until 8 p.m. at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home, with private burial in the Fairview Cemetery in Bowling Green. Dr. Riley choose cremation.

William Leroy Taylor

SCOTTSVILLE — William Leroy Taylor, 84, died Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010, at the VA Hospital in Murfreesboro, Tenn.

The Glasgow native was a farmer, former employee of SKF in Glasgow, a World War II U.S. Navy veteran and a member of Walton’s Chapel Church of Christ. He was a son of the late Unie Carl Taylor and Clara Lee Deweese Taylor and husband of the late Margaret Louise Franklin Taylor.

He is survived by four sons: David Leroy Taylor and wife, Judy Ann, Glasgow, Monte Taylor and wife, Teresa, and Tony Taylor and wife, Denise, all of Scottsville, and Ronnie Taylor and wife, Anna, Bowling Green; one sister: Wanda Proffitt, Cave City; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother: Perry Taylor; one sister: Dorothy Jean Davis; and two great-grandsons: Logan Taylor and Ryan Taylor.

Funeral services for William Leroy Taylor will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, at Goad Funeral Home, Scottsville, with Brother Danny Patrick officiating and burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery with military honors by Barren County DAV Chapter 20. Visitation will be after noon Tuesday at Goad Funeral Home.

A Memorial Service will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Chapel at Manzano Del Sol, 5201 Roma Avenue NE. Opal will be interred in Glasgow and laid to rest near her family and beloved husband, Alfred. Kirby & Son Funeral Chapels, Inc., Lovers Lane Chapel, Bowling Green, with burial in Smiths Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 to 9 p.m. today (Tuesday) and after 9 a.m. Wednesday until service time at the funeral home.
